Job Summary:
Panasonic is seeking a Forward Deployed DataX Manager, reporting to the Director Digitial Manufacturing for Panasonic Energy. This professional will be accountable for delivering end to end data solutions that directly improve factory operations. This role works hands on on the factory floor with manufacturing, quality, and operations teams to translate production challenges-such as yield loss, scrap, downtime, and traceability gaps-into production grade, near real time data products. The manager leads the full lifecycle of data delivery, including designing and deploying pipelines across MES, equipment, historians, quality, CMMS, SCADA, and inspection systems, building analytics and dashboards used daily by operators and engineers, modeling core manufacturing entities, and mentoring forward deployed data teams, all while operating under real world production constraints and supporting extensive on site and travel requirements.
Essential Duties:
  • Mandatory on-site, embedded role within EV battery manufacturing facilities - Sparks, NV or De Soto, KS
  • Serve as the single accountable team leader for forward-deployed DataX outcomes
  • Work directly on the factory floor with manufacturing, quality, and operations teams
  • Translate production problems (yield loss, scrap, downtime, traceability gaps) into deployable data solutions
  • Lead end-to-end delivery of data products from discovery to production
  • Design and deploy production-grade data pipelines integrating equipment, MES, historians, quality, CMMS, SCADA, and inspection quality systems
  • Implement event-driven and near-real-time analytics for operational decision-making
  • Build and operationalize solutions using but not limited to AWS, Azure, Palantir Foundry and/or similar platforms
  • Model manufacturing entities such as cells, lots, batches, equipment states, and genealogy
  • Develop operational dashboards and analytical applications used daily by engineers and operators
  • Lead and mentor forward-deployed data engineers, analytics engineers, and data scientists
  • Manage execution under real-world factory constraints
  • Travel and extended on-site assignments are a core requirement

Supervisory Responsibilities:
  • Provides direct leadership and day-to-day oversight for forward-deployed data engineers, analytics engineers, and data scientists assigned from time to time for on-site manufacturing deployments.
  • Plans, assigns, and coordinates work across engineering and analytics functions to support end-to-end delivery of production data solutions
  • Mentors and develops team members through hands-on guidance, technical leadership, and on-site collaboration in live factory environments.
  • Oversees and coordinates work performed by external vendors and contractors supporting forward-deployed data solutions, ensuring alignment with project objectives, delivery standards, and on-site operational requirements.
  • Serves as a Technical Leader for the DataX team leading innovation while balancing operational requirements

Travel Requirement:
  • Occasional local travel between company facilities, as required to support operational needs
  • Up to 20% travel required

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Science or Mathematics

  • Engineering degree in Computer Science
  • AWS, Azure, Palantir, AI certification/s
  • Prior experience in Data Science
  • Prior experience in Manufacturing, Industrial or Software Solutions

Essential Qualifications:
  • 7+ years' experience in data engineering, analytics, AI, or software delivery
  • 2+ years leading teams or owning large customer-facing deployments
  • A graduate degree is mandatory for this role
  • Strong hands-on proficiency with Cloud based Data Solutions - AWS (S3, EC2, IAM, Lambda, Glue, Redshift, Athena), Palantir, Azure, etc.
  • Experience building and operating ETL / ELT pipelines at manufacturing scale
  • Hands-on experience with event-based platforms (Kafka, Kinesis, or equivalent)
  • Proficiency in Palantir Foundry, including pipelines, ontologies, and applications
  • Strong experience with Tableau for operational and executive dashboards
  • Proficiency in SQL and Python
  • Experience integrating MES, historians, PLC-adjacent data, and quality systems
  • Familiarity with EV battery manufacturing processes (cell, formation, aging, test, genealogy) is a plus
  • Comfortable operating in ambiguous, high-pressure, production environments
  • Willingness and ability to meet mandatory on-site and travel requirements
