The Manager will lead Data Stewards and partner closely with Data Product Owners, Data Governance, technology teams, data architects, and business stakeholders to define data requirements, monitor quality, resolve issues, strengthen controls, and improve stewardship processes. The role requires the ability to lead through ambiguity, translate business needs into actionable data and process requirements, and drive measurable improvements in data quality and operational performance.
This individual:
  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of Data Stewards and data professionals.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert for assigned master data domains, stewardship practices, and data quality processes.
  • Translate business needs into clear data, process, reporting, and technology requirements.
  • Identify opportunities to simplify, automate, and continuously improve stewardship workflows and controls.

You will be responsible for:
  • Lead day-to-day stewardship activities across assigned master data domains, ensuring data is accurate, trusted, available, and fit for purpose.
  • Manage, coach, and mentor Data Stewards; set goals, support development, and drive accountability for individual and team performance.
  • Partner with Data Product Owners, Data Governance, business stakeholders, data architects, and technology teams to define priorities, requirements, data quality rules, SLAs, and remediation workflows.
  • Define, standardize, measure, and monitor data quality metrics; develop reporting and dashboards that provide visibility into data quality health and issue resolution.
  • Identify and maintain Critical Data Elements, data definitions, metadata, data dictionaries, and field-level guidance for assigned domains.
  • Perform and oversee data profiling, data cleansing, data mapping, trend analysis, root cause analysis, issue triage, and remediation activities.
  • Address complex data issues escalated by team members or stakeholders, applying knowledge of data, systems, business processes, and controls.
  • Support master data management implementation and improvement activities, including workflow design, data quality rule definition, data model input, integration support, and system issue resolution.
  • Use SQL, Excel, and other analytical tools to build queries, analyze data, identify trends, and provide actionable insights to stakeholders.
  • Drive operational excellence by recommending people, process, and technology improvements that increase efficiency, accuracy, automation, and control.

The experience you bring:
  • 10+ years of relevant experience in data management, data stewardship, master data management, data governance, business analysis, data quality, or related data disciplines.
  • 2+ years of people leadership experience, including coaching, mentoring, goal setting, and performance management.
  • Strong understanding of master data management, data stewardship, data quality management, data governance, metadata, and data lifecycle practices.
  • Experience with data management systems, MDM platforms, data quality tools, workflow tools, metadata repositories, or enterprise data platforms.
  • Advanced SQL and Excel skills; experience with Python, Alteryx, VBA, Power BI, or similar tools is a plus.
  • Ability to understand data models, data integrations, workflows, and data quality rules, and to partner effectively with technology teams.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, written, and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to business stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, make sound decisions within defined policies, and lead through ambiguity.
  • Demonstrated ability to build relationships and influence across business, technology, governance, and operations teams.
