Job Summary:
Chenega MIOS SBU is a company focused on supporting large-scale government operations through advanced technology. The Data Engineer role involves building data pipelines, ensuring data security, and integrating sources for analytics and compliance reporting.
Responsibilities:
• Manage and coordinate with internal or external parties the collection, compilation, normalization, and standard analysis of data assets across diverse projects and data platforms.
• Develop, maintain, evaluate, and test valuable data solutions within an organization.
• Develop and execute plans, policies, and practices that control, protect, deliver, and enhance the value and integrity of the organization's data and information assets and programs.
• Collect, store, process, and analyze raw and/or complex data from multiple sources, recommend ways to apply the data, choose and design optimal data solutions, and build data processing systems, using expertise in data warehousing solutions and working with the latest database technologies.
• Investigate data quality problems, conduct analysis to determine root causes of problems, correct errors, and develop prototypes, process improvement plans across all programs, and proof of concepts for the selected solutions.
• Process unstructured data into a form suitable for analysis, followed by doing the analysis.
• Integrate innovations and algorithms into the organization's data systems, working closely with the engineering team.
• Implement complex data projects with a focus on collecting, parsing, managing, analyzing, and visualizing large sets of data to turn information into insights using multiple platforms.
• Establish security protocols to protect all data collected and used by the organization.
• Ensuring the compliance of policy, processes, and procedures throughout the day-to-day management of the organization.
• Assist in managing data needs and supporting the collection of data needed for various operational needs.
• Data analysis, problem solving, investigation, and creative thinking with a massive amount of data supporting a variety of operational scenarios, and responsible for source code control.
• Create and maintain data ingestion and transformations within Vantage and Gabriel Nimbus.
• Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Required:
• Bachelor's degree in science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, IT, or business-related programs required.
• 4+ years of experience in building data pipelines, data transformation, and integrating sources for use in dashboards, AI/ML, analytics, and compliance reporting
• Must have an active Secret clearance with the ability to obtain TS with SCI eligibility.
• Experience in Python and SQL required
• Experience with cloud platforms like Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure, etc., and migrating customers/projects to the cloud
• Experience working in a Unix/Linux environment
• Experience with NoSQL database
• Experience with utilizing API for data sources
• Experience with transforming JSON
• Experience working in cloud infrastructures
• Must have high proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite and possess advanced skills and knowledge in programs like Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
• Must have an understanding of cloud technologies (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP, Oracle) and hybrid cloud environments
• Knowledge of Continuous Integration & Continuous Development tools (CI/CD).
• Experience with relational databases and knowledge of query tools and/or BI tools like Power BI or Business Objects (BO), and data analysis tools.
• Experience extracting, transforming, and structuring data to support both exploratory analytics and operational reporting.
• Use knowledge of data visualization tools to deliver information that allows client users to quickly understand data, ask better questions, and take action.
• Possess knowledge and experience with data analysis and data technical expertise in data management, engineering, and science.
• Skillful time management and organizational skills to set and meet deadlines.
• Ability to work both independently and within a team.
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment to encourage collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.
• Ability to meet minimum clearance requirements.
• Ability to travel up to 10%.
• Ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays as required.
Preferred:
• 3+ years’ experience supporting DoD or federal programs is highly desirable.
• Data Analytics or Engineering Certifications
• 3+ years’ experience with Vantage or Gabriel Nimbus
• Experience with utilizing logs, scans, and sensor data
• Cybersecurity certifications like CISSP (Certified Information Systems Security Professional), CISA (Certified Information Systems Auditor), or CISM (Certified Information Security Manager) are desired.
• Baseline and Full Computing Environment Certifications for IAT-II IAW DoD 8570.01-M (Security+ certification) desired.
