Translate business requirements into technical solutions, supporting data analysis, and documenting data processes. Collaborate on maintaining data assets, providing business context for data initiatives, and helping research new data usage methods. Contribute to building and maintain Data Products and support production data activities when needed.


Job Accountabilities

  • Perform data analysis and assist in assessing data management requirements for a specific Platform or Journey.

  • Articulate technical design and development details to non-technical business partners

  • Maintain foundational knowledge of upstream data, including knowledge provided through data profiling, data quality reporting, and via the production of metadata

  • Support the acquisition and ingestion of data

  • Elicit, analyze, and understand business and data requirements to develop complete business solutions under the guidance of senior peers and tech leads, including data models (entity relationship diagrams, dimensional data models), ETL and business rules, data life-cycle management, governance, lineage, and metadata

  • Ensure data is maintained in compliance with enterprise data standards, policies, and guidelines

  • Provide support in DEV/Testing cycles with requirements traceability

  • Support partners and stakeholders in interpreting and analyzing data

  • Participate fully as a member of the team, support a positive work environment that promotes service to the business, quality, innovation and teamwork and ensure timely communication of issues/ points of interest

  • Support the team by continuously enhancing knowledge / expertise in own area and participate in knowledge transfer within the team and business unit

  • Keep current on emerging trends/ developments and grow knowledge of the business, related tools and techniques

  • Enable team members by sharing knowledge and leveraging engineering best practices.

  • Performs tasks independently. Uses and evolves established patterns to solve routine problems; contributes to new patterns where necessary

  • Ability to adapt to changing project requirements, technologies, and priorities while delivering effectively under perceived timeframes

  • Support delivery on a 2-3-year roadmap for Canadian Personal Banking Data Products

  • The role is expected to retain critical institutional knowledge within SIJ business domain and act as lead Data Designer in Curation POD.

Experience and Education requirements

  • 1 - 2 years of relevant experience

  • Role requires hands on experience and proficiency in basic SQL, Bit Bucket (GitHub), Jira, Confluence, Agile delivery and ability to perform Data Mapping, requirements gathering, support SDLC cycles with requirements traceability, support POD in Agile ceremonies, alongside strong communication skills to address stakeholder management.

  • Some proficiency in PySpark, Java/Python is expected alongside familiarity with data visualization tools (e.g., PowerBI, Tableau etc.).

  • Azure Cloud skills highly preferred, including knowledge of Azure Data Bricks, Azure Data Factory.

  • Robust documentation skills, strong analytical abilities required, alongside excellent communication skills to work seamlessly with multiple cross-functional teams.

  • Nice to have - experience with GitHub Copilot, understanding of data modeling

  • Degree, Postgraduate Degree, or Technical Certificate in Data Management or related discipline (e.g. Computer Science, Engineering), or equivalent practical experience
