Mapping Coordinator II - Providence, RI
About the Role
Join Rhode Island Energy as a Mapping Coordinator II and play a pivotal role in supporting our Maps and Records team. Oversee and develop mapping personnel, ensure compliance with safety standards, and help drive operational excellence through accurate GIS data management. This onsite, full-time contract position offers a dynamic environment where your contributions directly impact public safety and regulatory success.
Responsibilities
- Support the Maps and Records team by training and guiding mapping personnel in GIS data collection and input
- Review, approve, and post mapping and records projects for accuracy and compliance
- Maintain and update backlog databases daily in GIS systems to ensure timely and safe operations of public gas facilities
- Generate performance reports to monitor safety, KPIs, and compliance metrics
- Manage record retention databases and process historical documents for storage per company policy
- Collaborate with Lead GIS Specialist/Supervisor to identify and implement process improvements, enhance department performance, and resolve deficiencies
- Contribute to the design and development of quality assurance procedures in gas work order processes
Required Skills and Experience
- Associate degree in Engineering or equivalent work experience
- Minimum 2 years' experience in mapping, engineering, or GIS within a supervisory or drafting role
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
- Demonstrated ability to direct, instruct, and develop team members in mapping and GIS environments
- Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills
- Solid understanding of Esri GIS Enterprise Systems and Utility Network standards
- Knowledge of relevant federal, state, and municipal codes and company policies
Preferred Skills
- Supervisory experience in Automated Mapping/GIS settings
- Experience with quality system practices in upstream gas work order processes
