Job description

Research Data Librarian (Medical Asst Professor)

FACULTY VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT

The City University of New York (CUNY) School of Medicine (SoM) is the only medical school in the CUNY system. Our innovative curriculum allows students to complete both their undergraduate Bachelor of Science (BS) and Doctor of Medicine (MD) degrees in seven years. CUNY SoM graduated its first MD class in 2020. In addition, the CUNY SoM offers a two-year Physician Assistant (PA) program to prepare health professionals licensed to practice medicine with physician supervision. Our mission is 1) to provide access to medical education to talented youth from historically underrepresented in backgrounds in medicine and to develop health professionals committed to practicing in under-served communities and 2) to perform innovative research in community health and biomedicine.

The School of Medicine is currently seeking a Research Data Librarian. Reporting to the Chief Librarian, this position provides expertise and support for research data management, data-related scholarly communications, and evidence synthesis activities at the CUNY Medicine. This position serves as a key member of the library's research support team, partnering with faculty, researchers, staff, and students throughout the research lifecycle. The librarian assists researchers in developing data management and sharing plans, promotes best practices for research data stewardship, and supports compliance with funder and institutional requirements. In addition, the position provides library instruction, reference services, and collaborates with research teams on systematic and scoping reviews.

QUALIFICATIONS MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Master’s degree in Library Science, Master’s in Library and Information Studies, or closely related discipline from an ALA-accredited institution; a second graduate degree is required.
  • Experience conducting advanced literature searches in biomedical and health sciences databases.
  • Knowledge of research data management principles and practices.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide instruction and consultation services.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders in a research-intensive environment.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Experience supporting grant-funded research and developing data management and sharing plans.
  • Experience participating in systematic reviews, scoping reviews, or other evidence synthesis projects.
  • Familiarity with NIH Data Management and Sharing Policy and other federal funding agency requirements.
  • Knowledge of data repositories, metadata standards, and data sharing practices.
  • Experience with implementation of the Elsevier Pure product or a similar researcher profile system.
  • Experience with citation management software and evidence synthesis tools.
  • Experience in academic health sciences or medical libraries.
  • Record of scholarly activity, including presentations, publications, or professional service.
COMPENSATION

Medical Assistant Professor (Basic Science): $80,982 - $128,748

Salary commensurate with education and experience.
