Job description

Position Type: Full-Time

Location: Mesa, AZ (Hybrid - 3 days on-site, 2 days remote)
Salary: $145,000 - $155,000

Travel: up to 25%

Position Overview:

The Infrastructure Manager is a senior leadership position responsible for the design, deployment, and management of the core hardware and software infrastructure that supports our compounding pharmacy operations. This is a hands-on management role; the successful candidate must be capable of leading a team of engineers while simultaneously architecting and implementing complex server and network projects. The Infrastructure Manager is the primary driver of our hardware consolidation strategy, moving the organization toward a fully self-hosted environment using Proxmox VE, Arista EOS, and OPNsense to ensure total control over our tooling and data.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Team Leadership and Development: Manage, mentor, and train a team of infrastructure professionals. Foster a culture of technical excellence and continuous improvement.
  • Hands-on Project Architecture: Lead the design and implementation of new builds and network upgrades. Personally engage in the configuration of Proxmox clusters, Arista network fabrics, and firewall rules.
  • Infrastructure Strategy: Develop long-term infrastructure roadmaps focused on performance, redundancy, and data sovereignty. Select hardware and software that avoid vendor lock-in and "paperweight" licensing models.
  • Compliance and Best Practices: Ensure all infrastructure follows industry standards and regulatory requirements (FDA, DEA, HIPAA, PCI, cGMP). Implement rigorous security hardening and audit logging.
  • Automation and Tooling: Drive the development of infrastructure automation scripts using Python, Go, and Bash. Oversee the implementation of monitoring and alerting systems.
  • Documentation Mastery: Maintain meticulous documentation of all system architectures, network diagrams, and SOPs.

Required Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of experience in IT infrastructure and network engineering.
  • Mastery of Proxmox VE, including ZFS storage layouts, HA clustering, and ceph integration.
  • Deep expertise in routing and switching and network automation.
  • Advanced knowledge of OPNsense firewalls, HAProxy, VPNs (WireGuard and overlay), and Suricata.
  • Strong proficiency in Linux (Debian/AlmaLinux) and FreeBSD administration.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience writing scripts in Python, Bash, and Go; familiarity with Elixir or Clojure is highly desirable.

Work Environment: This position is primarily based in a hybrid work environment. The role requires regular periods of sitting, standing, and computer use, with occasional lifting as needed. Reasonable accommodations may be made for individuals with disabilities.
