Position Summary

DPR Construction is seeking a Data Governance Specialist to support the implementation and operational management of the company's Enterprise Data Governance (EDG) program.

This role serves as the technical subject matter expert for the Atlan data governance platform, responsible for platform configuration, metadata management, integration with enterprise systems, and support of governance workflows.

Working under the direction of the Data Governance Lead, the specialist will collaborate with Enterprise Data Owners, Business Data Stewards, Technical Data Stewards, Enterprise Architecture, and IT teams to improve data transparency, stewardship, and governance adoption across DPR's data ecosystem.

This role combines platform administration, technical integration, and project coordination to support the operationalization of DPR's modern data governance capabilities.

Key Responsibilities

Data Governance Platform Administration

  • Serve as the primary administrator for the Atlan data governance platform.
  • Configure and maintain metadata ingestion pipelines and integrations with enterprise data systems.
  • Manage catalog structures including data domains, assets, ownership assignments, and classifications.
  • Configure governance workflows such as asset certification, stewardship assignments, and issue management.
  • Maintain governance taxonomies including business glossary terms, metadata standards, and classification policies.
  • Develop and lead training efforts around the Data Governance platform
  • Maintain permissions and security within the platform

Metadata Management & Data Catalog Operations

  • Support the development and ongoing management of DPR's enterprise data catalog.
  • Implement automated metadata harvesting and lineage capture across enterprise data sources.
  • Maintain and curate business glossary definitions aligned with enterprise data standards.
  • Partner with engineering and analytics teams to ensure consistent metadata capture and governance alignment.

Data Governance Program Support

  • Support the operational execution of DPR's Enterprise Data Governance (EDG) program.
  • Coordinate onboarding of critical data assets into the governance platform.
  • Facilitate governance workflows including stewardship reviews, issue management, asset certification
  • Assist in the Data Governance Lead in maintaining governance documentation including policies, standards, and procedures.

Data Quality & Stewardship Enablement

  • Partner with business and technical data stewards to define and implement data quality rules.
  • Support monitoring and resolution of data quality issues through governance workflows.
  • Enable stewardship participation through governance tools and processes.

Technical Integration & Automation

  • Support integration of the governance platform with DPR's data ecosystem including data warehouses, analytics platforms, and operational systems.
  • Utilize APIs and automation capabilities to improve metadata ingestion and governance workflows.
  • Assist with implementation of data lineage tracking across data pipelines and platforms.

Governance Reporting & Metrics

  • Develop dashboards and reporting to track governance adoption and maturity.
  • Monitor key governance KPIs including data catalog coverage, metadata completeness, stewardship engagement, and data quality issue resolution
  • Assist the Data Governance Lead in the preparation of governance reporting for leadership and steering committees.

Required Qualifications

Education

Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Data Management, Computer Science, Business Analytics, or a related field.

Experience

  • 4-7 years of experience in data governance, metadata management, or data management
  • 2+ years of experience administering Atlan or a comparable data governance platform
  • Experience implementing or supporting enterprise data catalogs
  • Experience coordinating cross-functional data or analytics initiatives

Technical Skills

  • Administration and configuration of Atlan
  • Metadata management and data catalog architecture
  • Data lineage and metadata automation
  • SQL and data analysis
  • API-based integrations
  • Familiarity with modern cloud data ecosystems
  • Experience with Power BI, Tableau, or similar analytics tools
  • Familiarity with platforms such as Snowflake, Databricks, or similar data environments

Project & Collaboration Skills

  • Strong project coordination and organizational skills
  • Ability to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously
