About This Team

The "Technology" sub-function of the legal team, provides strategic legal advice, support and guidance on guest omni-channel, payments, e-commerce and technology matters, including drafting, negotiating and reviewing guest facing terms and vendor contracts, advising on compliance requirements, developing policies relating to emerging technologies and supporting many departments across the organization, including, but not limited to: Procurement, Privacy, Cybersecurity, Technology, Risk Advisory Services, Compliance, Intellectual Property, and Digital.
a day in the life
  • Identify and advise cross-functional partners on legal obligations relating to data disclosures and governance, platform/system safety and integrity, emerging technologies (including artificial intelligence ("AI")), and applicable compliance requirements
  • Lead the development, implementation, and improvement of a comprehensive AI governance framework to support ethical and responsible AI use across the organization.
  • Collaborate and coordinate with cross-functional partners, to ensure the seamless integration of AI and data governance compliance programs.
  • Provide strategic guidance on emerging technologies, use of those technologies, and services including the implementation of new products and services relating to data governance and AI compliance legal risks.
  • Complete thorough risk assessments to identify potential legal and regulatory compliance issues and developing mitigation strategies.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of AI governance framework, making adjustments based on evolving technologies, business needs, and regulatory landscapes.
  • Maintain company-wide policies, guidelines and practices on applicable AI and data governance legal matters.
  • Explain complex information to business partners in a straightforward and comprehensive manner
  • Review, monitor, and provide guidance on regulatory developments around data governance and AI.
  • Draft commercial contracts clauses and obligations related to emerging technology, including AI.
  • Develop and implement education curriculum and training plans for the larger legal team and cross functional business partners related to AI developments, impacts and potential risks to the organization.

Qualifications
  • J.D. or bachelor's degree in law from an accredited institution.
  • Current member in good standing of the Washington State or British Columbia law society (or other Canadian or US jurisdiction).
  • A minimum of 5 years of relevant legal technology (some artificial intelligence), data governance, and/or cybersecurity experience (legal in-house or corporate team experience/exposure is an asset)
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
  • Has the ability to prioritize and manage multiple matters simultaneously in an entrepreneurial, rapidly scaling and changing environment.
  • Keen attention to detail, ability to execute requested assignments and as part of a team, and excellent organizational skills.
  • Good judgment with an understanding of when to ask for guidance or input.
  • Comfortable balancing compliance and risk-minimization with a pragmatic, tech-savvy, and a solutions-oriented approach
  • Excellent analytical, written, verbal, research, and communication skills.

compensation and benefits package
lululemon's compensation offerings are grounded in a pay-for-performance philosophy that recognizes exceptional individual and team performance. The typical hiring range for this position is from $168,000-$220,500 annually; the base pay offered is based on market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and internal equity. As part of our total rewards offering, permanent employees in this position may be eligible for our competitive annual bonus program and subject to program eligibility requirements.
