Job description

Summary

The AI Governance Analyst is part of Symetra's Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) team and supports the continued growth and maturity of Symetra's Artificial Intelligence (AI) Governance Program. Working closely with other ERM team members and business partners across the organization, this role helps ensure the Company's AI solutions are governed in a responsible, transparent, secure, and compliant manner.

This position provides an opportunity to develop expertise in AI governance, emerging technologies, and responsible AI practices while building relationships across business, technology, legal, compliance, information security, procurement, and data functions. The AI Governance Analyst supports key governance activities, maintains governance documentation, coordinates AI risk assessments, and helps ensure AI initiatives comply with internal policies and regulatory expectations.

Responsibilities

AI Governance Program Support - 40%

  • Support the maintenance of Symetra's AI Governance Framework, AI Policy, procedures, standards, and related governance documentation.
  • Assist with continuous improvement of AI governance processes, templates, and tools.
  • Coordinate AI governance activities across business areas to support consistent application of governance requirements.
  • Promote awareness of responsible AI practices by supporting cross-functional initiatives and collaborating with business partners.
  • Assist with the implementation and ongoing administration of an AI governance software solution
  • Assist with development and delivery of AI governance communications, awareness materials, and employee training.
  • Coordinate meetings, follow up on action items, and track progress of AI governance use cases.

AI Inventory & Risk Assessments - 30%

  • Maintain the centralized inventory of AI use cases, ensuring records remain complete, current, and appropriately documented throughout the AI lifecycle.
  • Coordinate AI intake activities by working with business owners to gather required documentation and facilitate completion of AI risk assessments.
  • Assist with documenting AI use cases, ownership, risk ratings, approvals, and lifecycle status.
  • Monitor AI governance use cases and escalate issues or observations to AI Governance leadership as appropriate.

AI Governance Reporting - 20%

  • Prepare reports, dashboards, presentations, and other materials used for AI Governance Committee meetings and other governance forums.
  • Track committee action items and governance decisions to ensure timely follow-up.
  • Assist with preparation of documentation supporting regulatory requests, internal audits, and governance reviews.
  • Help ensure AI governance documentation remains organized, accurate, and audit-ready.

Regulatory and Industry Monitoring - 10%

  • Research emerging AI laws, regulations, industry guidance, and best practices, summarizing key developments for the AI Governance team.
  • Stay informed on developments in artificial intelligence and responsible AI practices and share relevant insights with the AI Governance team.
