A Data Governance Intern assists organizations in managing and maintaining the quality, security, and compliance of their data assets. They typically work on projects related to data cataloguing, data quality assessments, and implementing data governance policies. Interns may collaborate with various teams to ensure data is accurate, consistent, and used responsibly. They also help document data processes and may use tools or software for monitoring data governance metrics. This role provides valuable experience in understanding how organizations protect and leverage their data.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Data Governance Intern?

  • Create first-draft insights from dashboards and datasets, translating trends, anomalies and performance changes into plain-language observations.
  • Support SEO, campaign, content, testing and conversion analysis by summarizing results and identifying potential improvement opportunities.
  • Document KPI definitions, dashboard instructions, data sources, report logic, assumptions and responsible GenAI usage practices.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications

  • Interest in responsibly using approved GenAI tools to improve analytics productivity, automation, first-draft analysis, documentation and business communication; coursework, project use, prompt development or demonstrated curiosity preferred.
  • Basic understanding of digital analytics, KPIs, website performance, customer behavior and performance reporting.
  • Strong curiosity, attention to detail, communication skills, professional judgment and ability to learn quickly, follow direction, validate work and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
