The Financial Analyst is a key operational and analytical role dedicated to supporting the financial planning, reporting, transactional integrity, and delivery of business insights for the Student Solutions business segment at People Corporation.
This role blends traditional financial analysis with hands-on full-cycle accounting operations, trust account governance, and billing management. The successful candidate will ensure robust control over day-to-day student finance transactions while translating operational data into high-quality management reporting.The Financial Analyst will:

Financial Operations & Full-Cycle Accounting

  • Manage day-to-day accounts payable (AP), accounts receivable (AR), and foundational accounting data entry to support the monthly financial close process.

  • Execute routine banking procedures and oversee on-site office staff payroll, including part-time hours tracking.

  • Prepare and manage the day-to-day processing of regular student opt-outs via Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT) and physical cheques.

Invoicing, Billings & Remittances

  • Prepare, validate, and issue complex client invoices and billings across student platforms.

  • Manage, track, and execute precise premium remittances to insurance companies and carrier partners.

  • Maintain strict tracking schedules for all outstanding client balances and collections.

Trust Account Governance & Reconciliations

  • Take full ownership of the preparation, balancing, and documentation of monthly trust account reconciliations across approximately 30 distinct accounts.

  • Investigate and resolve variance anomalies between system data, bank statements, and ledger entries.

Reporting, Underwriting Support & Analysis

  • Review monthly financial results and key performance indicators (KPIs), identifying, investigating, and documenting variances in revenue and expenses.

  • Extract monthly claims-to-premium data directly from online insurer portals to update existing analytical templates.

  • Support the underwriting team by populating templates for the "Composition of Rates" internal pricing and evaluation process.

  • Analyze revenue streams and provide detailed breakdowns by commercial drivers (e.g., new business, product expansions, organic client growth, and terminations).


Management Reporting & Partnering

  • Perform variance analysis against budget and forecast models, uncovering root causes and key drivers impacting segment performance.

  • Partner with cross-functional stakeholders (Operations, IT, and Client Services) to eliminate data gaps, improve reporting quality, and enhance financial visibility.

  • Complete other ad-hoc analytical, operational, and financial tasks as required.

To be successful as a Financial Analyst with People Corporation, you will need:
  • Experience: 3-5 years of progressive experience in a corporate finance, data analytics, or full-cycle accounting role. Prior experience managing high-volume reconciliations or trust accounting is highly desirable.

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field. Progress toward a CPA, CFA, or data analytics certification is considered a strong asset.

  • Technical Proficiency: Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (including deep familiarity with Power Query, VLOOKUPs, and Pivot Tables) is mandatory. Experience with Power BI, ERP systems, or automated billing tools is a plus.

  • Attention to Detail: Exceptional numerical accuracy, structural precision, and a high attention to detail when executing manual workflows and reconciliations.

  • Communication & Collaboration: Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build collaborative relationships with operational peers, insurers, and corporate accounting teams.

  • Independence: A self-starter mindset with the ability to manage time effectively, prioritize competing monthly deadlines, and work productively in a fast-paced environment.

The base salary for this position is between $80,000 - $90,000 annually.

This represents base salary only and does not represent other variable compensation components of our total compensation (i.e. annual bonus, etc.). The actual base salary will vary depending on local market conditions, geography and relevant job-related factors such as knowledge, skills, qualifications, experience, and education/training.
