ACCOUNTING CLERK
JOB DESCRIPTION
Position Summary:
A Greer's Accounting Clerk supports the daily operations of the Accounting Department by accurately processing payments, maintaining financial records, reconciling transactions, and providing excellent support to store personnel and customers. This role requires attention to detail, organization, and is essential to ensuring the accuracy and integrity of Greer's financial operations.
Key Responsibilities
1. Accounts Receivable & Payment Processing
  • Collect and process customer payments accurately and timely
  • Post house charges and other accounts receivable transactions to the general ledger
  • Maintain accurate records of payments, credits, and account balances
  • Assist with account research and resolve discrepancies as needed
  • Support collection efforts on outstanding accounts when necessary

2. Store & Customer Support
  • Work with store personnel regarding account questions and payment issues
  • Assist customers with account inquiries and payment-related concerns
  • Communicate professionally and courteously
  • Provide accounting support to stores as requested

3. Reconciliation & Recordkeeping
  • Reconcile bank statements and payments received to accounting records
  • Verify accuracy of financial transactions and supporting documentation
  • Investigate and resolve discrepancies in payments and receivable accounts
  • Maintain organized files and accounting records in accordance with company procedures
  • Assist with any accounting processes as assigned

4. Administrative & Department Support
  • Perform data entry and maintain accounting spreadsheets and reports
  • Utilize Microsoft Excel and other accounting software to support department operations
  • Assist with special projects and departmental initiatives
  • Perform other duties as assigned

  • Previous accounting, bookkeeping, or office experience preferred

Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to sit for extended periods while working at a computer
  • Ability to use standard office equipment, including a computer, calculator, copier, telephone, and scanner
  • Ability to frequently perform repetitive hand and finger motions, including typing and data entry
  • Ability to occasionally stand, walk, bend, reach, and lift office materials weighing up to 20 pounds
  • Ability to communicate effectively in person, by telephone, and through electronic communication
