Job description

Job Summary

The Data Entry Coordinator is responsible for accurately entering prescription orders and patient information into the pharmacy system. This role plays a critical role in ensuring the efficiency and accuracy of pharmacy operations and maintaining high standards of patient care.

The position is Full-Time with varying shifts (starting between 7am and 10am), Monday through Friday, with some Saturdays as well.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Prescription Data Entry:
    • Enter prescription orders, refill requests, and patient information into the pharmacy computer system accurately and efficiently.
    • Verify prescription details, including medication name, dosage, quantity, and directions for use, to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  2. Patient Profile Maintenance:
    • Create and update patient profiles in the pharmacy system, including demographic information, insurance details, and medication histories.
    • Verify patient insurance coverage, eligibility, and copay information as needed.
  3. Order Processing:
    • Process prescription orders and refill requests promptly, prioritizing urgent orders and ensuring adherence to pharmacy policies and procedures.
    • Communicate with pharmacy staff, healthcare providers, and patients to clarify prescription details, resolve discrepancies, and address any issues related to order processing.
  4. Quality Assurance:
    • Perform quality assurance checks on data entry processes and documentation to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with pharmacy regulations and standards.
    • Report any errors, discrepancies, or concerns to pharmacy management for review and resolution.

Preferred Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; additional training or certification in pharmacy technology or data entry preferred.
  • Experience in pharmacy data entry or related roles, preferably in a healthcare or pharmacy setting.
  • Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Knowledge of pharmacy laws, regulations, and best practices related to prescription processing and data entry.
  • Familiarity with pharmacy computer systems and software applications.
  • Experience with FrameworkLTC and DocuTrack pharmacy software is preferred, but not required
  • Excellent communication, organization, and multitasking skills.

Working Conditions

  • Works in office area(s) and pharmacy
  • Moves intermittently during working hours.
  • Is subject to frequent interruptions.
  • Is involved with customers, and customer representatives, family members, residents, personnel, visitors, government agencies/personnel, etc., under all conditions and circumstances.
  • Is subject to hostile and emotionally upset residents, family members, personnel, and visitors.
  • Communicate with the designated facility staff, nursing personnel, residents, or family members.
  • Works beyond normal working hours and on weekends and holidays when necessary.
  • Is subject to call back during emergency conditions (e.g., severe weather, evacuation, post-disaster, etc.).
  • Is involved in community/civic health matters/projects as appropriate.
  • Attends and participates in continuing educational programs.
  • Is subject to injury from falls, burns from equipment, odors, etc., throughout the workday, as well as reactions from dust, disinfectants, and other air contaminants.
  • May be subject to the handling of and exposure to hazardous chemicals.

Education

Must possess and maintain any and all necessary active and unencumbered certifications, degrees, or licenses in the necessary state, to the extent the position requires such certifications, degrees, or licenses.
