Job description

Position Overview Under general direction, operates a computer terminal performing responsible and independent work. Rapidly and accurately produces work through data processing equipment/computer terminal. Coordinates the work input/output through the data processing equipment/computer terminal.

Priorities and output schedules are established as necessary on a routine basis by the operator. Deals with the public. This job announcement will close when a minimum of 150 applications have been received.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (All duties listed may not be included in any one position nor does the list include all tasks found in a position of this class.) Plans work to ensure the smooth flow of work and rapid and accurate processing of data

Explains departmental policies and regulations to other employees and the general public. Answers complaints. Operates standard office machines and appliances incidental to clerical assignments.

Enters data into computer terminal accurately and rapidly. Independently composes correspondence relating to departmental operations. Assists supervisor in handling administrative detail.

Performs related work as required and other tasks as assigned by supervisor. Education and Experience Education and Experience Any combination of training and experience equivalent to: Graduation from a standard senior high school, including or supplemented by courses in typing and other office practices; considerable experience in the operation of a computer terminal. Knowledge, Skill, and Ability Considerable knowledge of general office practices and procedures.

Thorough knowledge of the methods of data entry on a computer terminal. Skill in the operation of a computer terminal. Ability to accurately type 50 wpm.

Ability to plan work and control records. Ability to follow oral and written instructions. Ability to train employees in data entry operations.

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates and supervisors. Ability to work independently with little or no supervision. Other Requirements Physical Requirements.

Must be able to remain in a stationary position for extended periods of time. Must be able to communicate effectively. Will need to be able to operate office product machineries, such as a calculator, copy machine, and computer printer.

The person in this position needs to move about inside the office to access the file cabinet, office machinery, etc. Work Schedule 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m
