Job description

Description:

Verland is currently seeking a highly skilled and experienced Development and Communications Manager to join our team. In this crucial role, the ideal candidate will be a humble and driven professional who gets along well with others. In partnership with the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), develop and execute a cost-effective and broad-based fundraising program to secure general operating support from individuals, corporations, foundations, grants, and organizations. Verland promotes independence, security, and quality of life for the individuals whom we serve by providing compassionate care.


Contributions:

  • Work with CEO, the Executive Leadership Team, the board of directors, and staff to identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward current and prospective donors.
  • Identify major gift prospects and coordinate personal meetings with the CEO and COO and assist with ongoing follow-up and requests for support.
  • Promote and increase Volunteer opportunities.
  • Manage current grant funders and conduct prospect research and outreach to identify and engage with potential grant funders.
  • Draft appeal letters and other fundraising- and marketing-related publications.
  • Manage current donations and cultivate future donations, both monetary and in-kind, as well as increase visibility, increase donor retention, and increase funding/donors.
  • Identify new corporate partners and work with the Executive Leadership team to expand corporate relationships.
  • Oversee donor data management efforts, ensuring data entry is accurate and comprehensive and that acknowledgement letters are turned around within a 48-hour window.
  • Planning and cultivation of events.
  • Oversee golf events and additional fundraiser events while ensuring cost-saving practices.
  • Manage all Verland marketing material to ensure it is relevant and engaging.
  • Manage the Events Committee to ensure committee members have a clearly defined strategy and the tools necessary to execute that strategy.
  • Attend and participate in community meetings and other off-site activities as requested.
  • Promote increased membership and community through intentional marketing strategies.
  • Manage all facility rentals.

Requirements:


  • Four (4) to six (6) years’ experience in a similar role with proven success in fundraising.
  • Two (2) to four (4) years’ experience managing projects and staff.
  • Development skills.
  • Understanding of fundraising and advocacy campaigns and ability to shape content to support fundraising and advocacy efforts.
  • Familiarity with grant proposals, donor appeals, and fundraising campaign content development.
  • Proficient with sponsorship solicitation and fundraising event logistics.

Minimum Training and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration and/or marketing preferred.
  • Track record of success in building fundraising programs and achieving annual fundraising goals.
  • Experience in cost-effective management of fundraising events and programs is preferred.
  • Bachelor’s Degree (4 years) with 1+ years of experience in the IID field is preferred.
  • Associate’s degree (2 years) with 6+ years of experience in the IID field is preferred.
  • 10+ years of experience at an ICF/IID setting in lieu of educational requirements.
  • Must be able to obtain all required clearances and maintain a valid Driver’s License.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
