A Data Engineer Relocation refers to the process of a data engineer moving to a new city, state, or country for a job opportunity. Often, companies offer relocation packages or assistance to help data engineers with the costs and logistics of moving. This can include covering moving expenses, temporary housing, and support for settling into a new location. Relocation is common in the tech industry due to the high demand for skilled data engineers in specific regions or at company headquarters.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a data engineer, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Data Engineer, you need strong skills in data modeling, ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes, and proficiency in programming languages such as Python or SQL, typically supported by a degree in computer science or a related field. Familiarity with big data platforms (like Hadoop or Spark), cloud services (such as AWS or Azure), and relevant certifications are highly valued. Job description

Introduction to the Job
ASML brings together the most creative minds in science and technology to develop lithography systems that are critical to producing faster, more powerful and energy-efficient microchips. We design, develop, integrate, market and service advanced systems that enable the world's leading chipmakers to create smaller, more capable semiconductor devices that power the technologies people use every day. Headquartered in Veldhoven, the Netherlands, ASML operates globally with 18 office locations across the United States, including major sites in Chandler, Arizona; San Jose and San Diego, California; Wilton, Connecticut; and Hillsboro, Oregon.
As an Upgrade Install and Relocation Engineer, you will play a key role in bringing ASML's advanced lithography systems into production at customer sites. You will install, upgrade, relocate, qualify, and optimize highly complex semiconductor manufacturing equipment that helps customers achieve world-class performance and productivity.
Working within ASML's Customer Support organization, you will collaborate with customers, engineers, and technical experts to deliver safe, high-quality installations and upgrades. In this hands-on role, you will contribute directly to technology innovation while building trusted partnerships and helping customers maximize system performance and operational success.
Role and Responsibilities
As an Upgrade Install and Relocation Engineer, you will work closely with customers, engineers, and technical experts to install, relocate, upgrade, and optimize advanced lithography equipment. You will:
  • Install, relocate, de-install, assemble, and qualify lithography systems and subsystems in cleanroom environments.
  • Execute system upgrades, modifications, and recovery activities according to established procedures and technical specifications.
  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve mechanical, electrical, and system-level issues to ensure optimal performance.
  • Collaborate with customers and cross-functional teams to identify and resolve technical challenges.
  • Analyze system performance and verify compliance with engineering, safety, and quality requirements.
  • Complete technical documentation, service reports, work orders, and project handovers accurately and on time.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives and provide guidance to less experienced team members when appropriate.

Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, mechatronics, physics, electronics, or a related technical field,
  • 0 - 2 years of experience in field service, semiconductor manufacturing, equipment installation, high-technology manufacturing, aerospace, automotive, or a similar technical environment.
  • 0 - 2 years of experience assembling, installing, troubleshooting, and repairing complex electromechanical equipment.
  • 0 - 2 years of experience using data analysis tools, spreadsheet software, and technical reporting applications.
  • 0 - 2 years of experience reading technical documentation, engineering drawings, procedures, and specifications.
  • Knowledge of semiconductor manufacturing, vacuum systems, pneumatics, hydraulics, precision alignment, or related technologies is preferred.

  • Communicate clearly and professionally with customers, colleagues, and stakeholders.
  • Collaborate effectively across teams to achieve shared objectives.
  • Adapt quickly to changing priorities, schedules, and customer requirements.
  • Demonstrate ownership, accountability, and attention to detail.
  • Follow technical procedures while maintaining a strong commitment to safety and quality.
  • Learn new technologies, systems, and processes efficiently.
  • Build positive and professional relationships with customers and team members.
  • Identify improvement opportunities that increase safety, efficiency, and performance.
  • Work independently while maintaining alignment with team goals.
