Position Summary:
The Data Conversion Specialist is responsible for performing essential project-related activities as assigned. This position provides input to conversion solution planning, interacts with customer subject matter experts, technical resources, and 3rd party vendors to design requirements and standards for data conversion. This position is an in-office, in-person, or hybrid role if local to South Bend, or remote if not local to South Bend and requires flexible work hours to accommodate go-live conversion activities as needed.
Essential Functions:
  • Works closely with customer application subject matter experts to design and document requirements for data conversion projects to ensure data deliverables meet 3rd party software vendor data ingestion specifications.
  • Acts as the technical lead for data conversions and performs business analysis and workflow review with business owners, clinical subject matter experts, and application analysts to capture business and technical requirements.
  • Reads, comprehends, and creates technical specifications, technical documentation, and other project documentation.
  • Creates and maintains internal process documentation that reflects best practices for data conversion.
  • Works closely with Data Automation Developers and ETL Business Analysts to develop, train, maintain, and utilize automated validation methods.
  • Shares and takes an active role in designing new methods to enhance data conversion process efficiency in cooperation with Data Integration Manager and Director of Data Integration.
  • Demonstrates strong analysis and problem-solving acumen in collaboration with teammates and external resources.
  • Performs project-related activities as assigned by Data Integration Manager that include SQL data modeling, creating conversion deliverables (delimited flat files, CCDs, HL7 messages, images, etc.) that meet vendor ingestion specifications as well as thorough validation of output prior to delivery.
  • Effectively understands and uses interface engines (such as Epic Bridges or other comparable systems) as required.
  • Provides ongoing technical guidance and assistance to Data Integration team members working conversion projects in accordance with priority set by the Data Integration Manager or Director of Data Integration.
  • Works closely with the team to troubleshoot issues and strategize potential solutions for roadblocks encountered.
  • Leverages experience in conducting timeline estimations for daily communication with Data Integration Manager and external resources.
  • Clearly communicates escalations around off-track project work to the Data Integration Manager in a timely fashion.
  • Monitors all projects and work assignments in progress and provides daily status reports to the Data Integration Manager via stand-up meetings, emails and Clarizen updates.
  • Takes ownership for ensuring timely project task completion while working to increase quality of deliverables for data conversion.
  • Willing to work flexible hours as needed to support data conversion activities, answer questions, and ensure successful ingestion of data into go-forward platform.
  • Establishes and maintains standards for quality, efficiency, and timeliness in collaboration with the Data Integration Manager.
  • Always provides excellent customer service.
  • Communicates with customers and other staff members in a courteous, responsive, and helpful manner.
  • Works with customers as needed on issues that may arise during the project life cycle.
  • Assists in the care and maintenance of department facilities, equipment, and supplies.
  • Participates in committees and/or focus groups as requested.
  • Completes other job-related assignments and special projects as directed.
Education amp; Experience:
  • BS or MS in Informatics, Computer Science, Mathematics or similar; or equivalent experience
  • 5+ years of data conversion and integration experience
  • 5+ years of experience working with relational databases
  • Epic Bridges Certification
  • Experience working in MSSQL and PostgreSQL
  • Experience taking accountability for high-profile projects
