Position Summary
Are you an experienced coding leader looking to make a meaningful impact in a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment? Catholic Health is seeking a dynamic Coding Manager to oversee daily coding, abstracting, and data reporting operations across inpatient, outpatient, emergency, and ancillary services. Partnering closely with HIM senior leadership and clinical teams, you will drive revenue integrity, streamline workflow efficiency, and foster a supportive, high-performing team culture.
Key Responsibilities
Operational & Workflow Leadership
  • Oversee daily coding workflows, monitoring workqueues, chart distribution, and productivity to ensure seamless team operations.
  • Act as the key liaison between Coding and Clinical Documentation Integrity (CDIP), ensuring smooth chart flow and feedback loops on coding/DRG changes.
  • Monitor DNFB (Discharged Not Final Billed) accounts, pre-bill coding edits, and missing documentation to ensure accurate and timely bill drop.
  • Partner with Revenue Cycle, Performance Improvement, Care Management, and HIM leadership to address coding denials, identify trends, and adapt to CMS policy updates.

Team Management & Development
  • Serve as a subject matter expert and trusted resource for coding staff, answering complex coding questions and providing real-time guidance.
  • Conduct regular quality audits, deliver constructive feedback, and identify educational gaps to empower staff growth and development.
  • Facilitate quarterly check-ins and annual performance evaluations to keep team members aligned on performance metrics and professional goals.
  • Foster a positive, fair, and inclusive work environment that promotes teamwork, safety, and open communication.

Qualifications & Requirements
Education & Certification
  • Associate Degree: Preferred (Health Information Technology or related field).
  • Certified Coding Specialist (CCS): Required.
  • Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) or Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT): Preferred.

Experience & Skills
  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years of hospital coding experience required; 5+ years in a supervisory or lead role strongly preferred.
  • Technical Expertise: Deep knowledge of ICD-10 inpatient and CPT outpatient coding rules, CMS guidelines, NCDs/LCDs, and Electronic Medical Record (EMR) revenue cycle systems.
  • Proficiency: Hands-on skill with MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and revenue workqueue applications.
  • Communication: Strong interpersonal, written, and presentation skills with an ability to collaborate effectively with medical staff and leadership.

Posted Salary Range
USD $100,000.00 - USD $125,000.00 /Yr.
This range serves as a good faith estimate and actual pay will encompass a number of factors, including a candidate's qualifications, skills, competencies and experience. The salary range or rate listed does not include any bonuses/incentive, or other forms of compensation that may be applicable to this job and it does not include the value of benefits.
