Resident Network Engineer Location: Oahu, Hawaii

Gridiron is looking for a Resident Network Engineer local to Oahu, Hawaii to serve as a trusted technical advisor and network engineer/architect for a mission-critical customer environment on Oahu. This role is customer-facing and consultative in nature, focused on designing, optimizing, and advising on modern data center and network architectures.
The ideal candidate combines deep technical expertise with strong communication skills and the ability to guide architectural decisions in a secure, high-availability environment. Key Responsibilities
Act as a resident subject matter expert (SME) for advanced network and data center technologies
Provide architectural guidance and advisory support for enterprise and data center network designs
Design, assess, and optimize VXLAN/EVPN-based data center architectures
Advise on network automation strategies using Ansible and Infrastructure as Code best practices
Collaborate closely with customer stakeholders, engineers, and leadership in a customer-facing advisory role
Evaluate current network designs and recommend improvements for scalability, performance, and resiliency
Support design reviews, technical workshops, and solution roadmaps
Ensure network architectures align with security, compliance, and mission requirements Required Qualifications
Active TS/SCI security clearance
Must be local to Oahu, Hawaii and able to work onsite full-time
8+ years of experience in enterprise or data center networking
Strong hands-on and architectural knowledge of:
VXLAN and EVPN
Modern data center network design
Network automation (Ansible)
Experience with at least one of the following network platforms:
Arista Networks (highly preferred)
Cisco
Juniper
Proven experience working in an architect, advisory, or consulting capacity
Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to explain complex designs to technical and non-technical audiences Preferred Qualifications
Prior experience as a resident engineer or embedded customer advisor
Background supporting DoD, IC, or other cleared environments
Familiarity with multi-vendor data center environments
Experience designing or advising on highly available, mission-critical networks Clearance
Applicants selected will be subject to a security investigation and may need to meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information; TS/SCI clearance required Compensation and Benefits
Salary Range: $140,000 - $225,00 (Compensation is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, work experience, skills, education, certifications, seniority, and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.)
