Job description

Data Center Technician II / III

Location: Reno, NV

Employment Type: Long-Term Contract Opportunity

Compensation: Up to $36/hour (based on experience)

Build and Support Large-Scale Data Center Infrastructure

We are seeking experienced Data Center Technicians (Level II or Level III) to support the deployment, operation, maintenance, and expansion of a large-scale enterprise data center environment. This is an excellent opportunity for technicians who enjoy hands-on work, solving complex hardware issues, and supporting critical infrastructure in a fast-paced environment.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in data center operations, server troubleshooting, rack and stack activities, cabling, hardware installations, and break/fix support.


Key Responsibilities
  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve server hardware issues in a production data center environment.
  • Isolate break/fix failures and perform root-cause analysis rather than simple component replacement.
  • Install, replace, and upgrade server components and hardware.
  • Coordinate replacement parts and manage defective hardware returns.
  • Perform firmware updates and routine maintenance on servers and infrastructure equipment.
  • Configure server settings, including IP addressing and system access credentials.
  • Rack, stack, cable, and deploy servers, switches, and other data center equipment.
  • Support network teams with troubleshooting, installation, and deployment activities.
  • Replace, reroute, and manage copper and fiber cabling.
  • Install and replace optics, transceivers, and related networking components.
  • Assist with data center buildouts, capacity expansions, and infrastructure projects.
  • Document completed work and follow established operational procedures.

Required Qualifications
  • 3+ years of hands-on data center technician experience.
  • Experience troubleshooting server hardware in a production data center environment.
  • Strong break/fix and hardware diagnostic skills.
  • Ability to isolate and troubleshoot server issues using Linux.
  • Hands-on experience with rack and stack activities.
  • Experience installing and managing structured cabling.
  • Knowledge of data center operations, maintenance, and infrastructure support.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with network engineers and technical support teams.
  • Experience supporting hardware deployments and infrastructure installations.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Level III Data Center Technician experience.
  • Ability to independently diagnose and resolve complex server issues.
  • Advanced Linux troubleshooting skills.
  • Experience supporting large-scale enterprise or hyperscale data center environments.
  • Familiarity with server, storage, and networking hardware platforms.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $28.00 - $31.00/hr.
