The Chemours™ Discovery Hub, state-of-the-art 320,000 sq.ft. world-class R&D/Application Development research facility located in Newark, DE, has a Data Center Cooling Principal Engineer position available in the Technology function. In Thermal & Specialty Solutions, we harness next-generation, low-Global Warming Potential (GWP) technology to provide market-driven innovations to customers in the areas of Refrigerants, Propellants, Fire Protection, Foam Blowing Agents and heat transfer fluids for Thermal Management used in various systems for building and construction segments, Mobile and Stationary heating and cooling systems to name a few. Our technology organization consists of experts in the areas of fluorine, catalysis, process development, engineering, analytical and formulation science, and application development to name a few.
This highly visible, key role will support R&D programs within the Liquid Cooling Product Development team reporting to the Product Growth Manager with specific focus on two-phase cooling applications, including immersion cooling and direct-for-chip for data center applications and other thermal management applications. While software programming skills are valuable to this role, this is not a programming position. This role is based in the Chemours™ Discovery Hub in Newark, DE.
The responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to, the following:
  • Lead projects and activities related to two-phase liquid cooling in data centers and other applications to meet strategic growth objectives.
  • Design and lead execution of experiments in a lab environment and field trials for data center cooling.
  • Develop, collaborate and maintain good relationships with value chain partners, end-users, academia/universities, national labs and industry organizations.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams within the organization, customers and partners.
  • Knowledge or the desire to learn fluorochemical science and related application technologies.
  • Travel 10-25% of time to customers and partners.

The following is required for this role:
  • BS. Mechanical, Computer or Electrical Engineering or Material Science with at least 5 years (10+ years preferred) of relevant work experience in data center cooling technologies, preferably liquid cooling technologies
  • Demonstrated understanding of data center operations and liquid cooling for data centers
  • Good interpersonal and written/oral communication skills, excellent presentation skills, and the ability to work well with all levels in the organization.
  • Ability to plan, prioritize and manage multiple, complex, time-sensitive projects
  • Ability to work in a team environment with high degree of initiative, independence and self-motivation with flexibility to monitor and move projects forward quickly and safely
