Job Title: Clinical Research Data Coordinator

Job Description

This role supports oncology clinical trials by entering, validating, and managing complex clinical research data within electronic data capture systems. The Clinical Research Data Coordinator maintains and enhances databases, develops tools and guidelines to ensure data integrity, and independently resolves complex data issues for multiple Phase I–III gastrointestinal oncology studies.

Responsibilities

  • Enter data accurately and completely from source documents into electronic data capture systems and verify entries for accuracy and completeness.
  • Establish and maintain complex record‑keeping procedures, including cross‑indexing by multiple factors and designing necessary forms to support clinical research workflows.
  • Maintain existing databases, ensure data integrity, and develop guidelines and processes for consistent, high‑quality data collection across oncology clinical trials.
  • Integrate data from several sources and ensure consistency, accuracy, and traceability of all clinical trial data.
  • Identify and select usable data from subtle and complex data patterns, applying practical understanding of oncology clinical research.
  • Use computer applications and electronic data capture platforms to manipulate, review, and report complex clinical trial data.
  • Develop new tools, templates, or trackers to assist with data collection, data review, and data analysis activities.
  • Work closely with data providers and study teams to discuss, clarify, and resolve data ambiguities, inconsistencies, and missing information.
  • Perform audits of personal work and, when required, review the work of others to ensure adherence to established procedures and data standards.
  • Select and apply appropriate formulas, computer programs, or applications based on data content and study requirements.
  • Oversee data management activities for multiple Phase I–III gastrointestinal oncology studies, ensuring timelines and quality expectations are met.
  • Perform timely data entry and query resolution within Medidata and other EDC systems, meeting expectations such as resolving 20–30 queries per day in an 8‑hour workday, depending on complexity.
  • Conduct chart reviews to extract relevant clinical information and ensure accurate transcription into the EDC system.
  • Pre‑screen patients by reviewing charts and available data to determine eligibility for oncology clinical trials, in collaboration with the study team.
  • Provide administrative support related to clinical research data coordination, as needed, to ensure smooth study operations.

Essential Skills

  • Demonstrated experience with treatment oncology clinical trials, preferably across Phase I–III studies.
  • Strong exp in clinical research data coordination, including data entry, query management, and data validation.
  • Heavy electronic data capture (EDC) experience, with substantial hands‑on use of Medidata.
  • Ability to oversee data workflows for multiple gastrointestinal oncology studies simultaneously.
  • Proven ability to resolve complex data queries within oncology studies accurately and within expected timelines.
  • High level of attention to detail and accuracy when handling complex and sensitive clinical data.
  • Proficiency in using computer applications and databases to manipulate, analyze, and report complex data.
  • Ability to establish and follow structured record‑keeping procedures and data integrity guidelines.
  • Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with data providers and clinical research teams.
  • Capacity to exercise independent judgment and initiative in planning and performing daily tasks.

Work Environment

The schedule is structured across five days per week, with productivity expectations that include resolving a substantial volume of data queries during a standard 8‑hour workday. The work is detail‑oriented, deadline‑driven, and focused on maintaining high standards of data quality and integrity in a professional research setting.

This is a Contract position based out of Palo Alto, CA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $33.00 - $37.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
