Bowman has an opportunity for a Reality Capture Data Specialist I to join our team in Austin, TX.

Purpose

Perform primarily data processing function of Reality Capture projects (75%), with some field capture (25%).  Process, register, analyze, and deliver 3D lidar data collected by our field teams all around the United States from the latest capture hardware, including both SLAM and Terrestrial LiDAR as well as drone-based solutions. Our Data Technicians are at the forefront of preparing best-in-class data for our BIM team and clients, furthering our company’s pursuit of delivering the most sophisticated and comprehensive reality capture services to our clients.


Responsibilities

Leadership and Direction

  • Perform work under direct supervision of an experienced professional and follow established procedures and clearly defined processes. Receive direction on all aspects of assignments, specific tasks and how to execute. Work is thoroughly reviewed by more senior staff to ensure application of sound techniques and principles.

At the Operational and Company Level

  • Collaborate with multiple internal departments to develop and execute the project plan.
  • Communicate with clients and stakeholders.

Do the Work

  • Process, register, analyze, and provide QA/QC of internally collected mobile, terrestrial, and drone-based LiDAR and photogrammetry data.
  • Learn existing standards and methods while contributing to continuous improvement of data management and processing best practices operations manual.
  • Develop and apply new software workflows to generate 3D point clouds from field-acquired data.
  • Identify data inconsistencies and communicate with the appropriate resources to provide accurate data updates as needed.
  • Collaborate with drafting and modeling teams to track deliverable status.
  • Ensure quality standards for data collection, postprocessing, adjustments, final product creation, and client project requirements are met.
  • Assist with creating data quality reports and data queries.
  • Assist in submitting data deliverables and reports on time.
  • Communicate effectively, orally and in writing, with all levels of company management and fellow employees.
  • When necessary, Travel 25%, but up to 50% of the time to various project sites across the US and execute the field data collection plan utilizing reality capture devices (SLAM, terrestrial, and drone) on a range of commercial and building projects throughout the United States.
  • Coordinate with the team to plan and arrange flights, car rentals, and hotel accommodations.
  • Follow established safety procedures to ensure OSHA compliance.
  • Develop and apply capture workflows to efficiently and accurately acquire data.
  • Perform routine maintenance to keep equipment in proper working condition.
  • Perform administrative tasks such as expense reports and timesheets.

Qualifications
  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent commensurate experience required.
  • Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in Land Surveying, Survey Engineering, Geomatics, Geographic Information Systems, Engineering, or related field preferred.
  • Entry level position, no prior experience required.
  • Any experience operating Reality Capture devices (3D Laser Scanners) and/or photogrammetric devices, processing LiDAR and/or photogrammetric data a plus.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) preferred.
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD and/or Revit preferred.
  • Ability to acquire a U.S. Passport may be required.
