Input Technology Solutions is seeking a Data Storage & Backup Systems Engineer for a great opportunity in Warrenton, VA.

Essential Responsibilities:

The duties and responsibilities of the Data Storage & Backup Systems Engineer include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Design, deploy, and manager high-performance storage systems (SAN, NAS) from vendors such as Commvault, EMC, NetApp, or HPE, that ensures adherence to organizational STIG standards and data retention guidelines
  • Oversee and sustain an enterprise-level IT data storage infrastructure for Virtual Machine environments (specifically Nutanix & VMware) supporting both Microsoft Windows and Linux server environments
  • Set up and configure RAID arrays, Logical Unity Numbers (LUNs), and storage pools to optimize data storage performance, redundancy, and accessibility, ensuring efficient allocation of storage resources across the system
  • Continuously monitor and assess the performance and capacity of storage systems, tracking key metrics such as throughput, latency, and resource utilization to ensure optimal operation and to proactively identify potential performance bottlenecks or capacity issues
  • Ensure strict adherence to relevant industry data protection standards, including HIPAA and PCI DSS, by implementing robust security measures, conducting regular audits, and maintaining comprehensive documentation to safeguard sensitive information and meet regulatory requirements
  • Perform thorough vulnerability assessments to identify potential security weaknesses, evaluate risks, and recommend appropriate mitigations to strengthen the overall security posture
  • Analyze and troubleshoot intricate performance, security, and technical challenges, pinpointing root causes, and implementing effect solutions to resolve issues
  • Develop and validate disaster recovery strategies, ensuring thorough testing to confirm system resilience and readiness in the event of failure
  • Establish and configure data backup processes and replication systems to ensure secure, consistent data protection and redundancy across multiple storage locations/systems, that will enable swift recovery in the event of data loss
  • Recover and/or rebuild systems following failures to maintain operational continuity and minimize disruptions
  • Create and maintain detailed and up-to-date documentation that accurately reflects system configurations, including hardware, software, storage settings, and any changes or updates made to facilitate consistency and ease of troubleshooting
  • Generate detailed performance reports and conduct capacity planning assessments to evaluate system efficiency and forecast future resource needs

Minimum Requirements:

  • Must have experience developing high-performance storage designs for enterprise SANs employing Fiber Channel network fabric and hybrid-cloud environments
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience managing data storage for Virtual Machine Environments (Nutanix or VMware) hosting Windows Servers and Linux environments
  • Must have 2 years of experience in system administration and storage design applying Commvault 11.x software for data storage backup
  • 2 years of relevant experience administering HPE data storage products (3PAR and Primera), StoreOnce, and tape back-up systems
  • Ability to work well in a team and effectively communicate technical information
  • Must be able to work a 40-hour work week, normally Monday through Friday
  • Ability to work overtime during critical peaks and be available to meet last-minute requests for overtime if needed
  • Ability to travel (5-10%) primarily within 75 miles
  • Familiarity with MS Office applications such as Excel, Word, Outlook, SharePoint, Project and Visio
  • Exceptional attention to detail; excellent verbal and written communication skills; strong critical thinking, organizational, time-management, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team in a dynamic environment

Security Clearance Required:

  • Must have active Top-Secret clearance with SCI or TS with the ability to acquire SCI

Minimum Education:

  • High School Diploma

Minimum Years of Experience:

  • 10 years of relevant experience

Required Certifications:

Must have passed the Commvault Professional Foundations Exam and possess one of the following 8140 IAT Level II or III baseline certifications:

  • Level II certifications include – CCNA Security, GISCP, GSEC, Security+ CE, SSCP
  • Level III certifications include – CASP CE, CCNP Security, CISA, CISSP (or Associate), GCED, GCIH

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in IT related field
  • Microsoft Certified: Windows Server Hybrid Administrator Associate
  • Citrix Certified Administrator
  • Certified Nutanix Enterprise Cloud Administration (ECA)
  • VMware Certified Professional – Data Center Virtualization (VCP)
  • Experience with ServiceNow
  • Experience with ITIL
