Job description

Wintellisys, Inc. has joined with a large company in search of a Systems Administrator for our client in Memphis, TN.

This is a contract to hire opportunity.

The System Administrator maintains, upgrade and manages all software, hardware and networks. System Administrator ensures the technology infrastructure runs smoothly and efficiently.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Install and configure software and hardware
  • Manage network servers and technology tools
  • Set up accounts and workstations and active directory administration
  • Monitor performance and maintain systems according to requirements
  • Run reports on system performance for team and wider organization
  • Optimize processes and lead process improvement
  • Create and implement training for staff
  • Ensure systems are secure and protected from breach or viruses
  • Risk mitigation planning
  • Weekend work will be required to perform system/equipment upgrades and updates
  • Troubleshoot issues and outages
  • Review application logs
  • Ensure security through access controls, malware protection software, backups and firewalls
  • Upgrade systems with new releases and models
  • Develop expertise to train staff on new technologies
  • Build an internal wiki with technical documentation, manuals and IT policies

Minimum Job Requirements:

  • Proven experience as a System Administrator, Network Administrator or similar role
  • Experience with databases, networks (LAN, WAN) and patch management
  • Knowledge of system security (e.g. intrusion detection systems) and data backup/recovery
  • Familiarity with various operating systems and platforms
  • Resourcefulness and problem-solving aptitude
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Extensive experience with VMware
  • Advanced knowledge of system vulnerabilities and security issues
  • Ability to respond to help desk requests after hours on a limited basis

Education:

  • 2+ years' experience in system administration
  • Associate or higher degree in a related field
