Job description

  • Review laws, policies, and prior audits to understand organizations under audit
  • Analyze organizational structures, budgets, and procedures
  • Identify relevant laws, regulations, and criteria related to audit objectives
  • Assist with interviews with agency staff, stakeholders, and experts
  • Research standards to guide audit testing
  • Assist higher-level auditors with risk assessments and audit planning
  • Document and formulate audit findings and conclusions
  • Communicate audit information with internal management and audited organizations
  • Gather and analyze information to inform audit scope and planning
  • Produce audit recommendations that build trust and improve Oregon state government
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Business or Public Administration, Public Policy, Behavioral or Social Sciences, or related field, and 1 year of professional-level governmental audit experience
  • Alternatively, Associate's degree or higher in a related field and 3 years of professional-level governmental performance-audit experience for another comparable state government
  • Alternatively, education or experience equivalent to 5 years supporting the classification, with up to 3 years credit for qualifying governmental audit experience
  • Underfill option: Bachelor's degree or higher in a related field, or Associate's degree or higher plus 2 years of qualifying governmental audit experience, or equivalent education/experience totaling 4 years with up to 2 years audit-experience credit
  • Experience conducting performance audits under GAGAS/Yellow Book or IIA International Standards for the Professional Practice of Internal Audits/Redbook
  • Strong verbal and written communication; attentive listening and accurate audit documentation
  • Proficiency with word processing, spreadsheet, database, and presentation software
  • Knowledge of descriptive statistics and sampling methods
  • Ability to investigate situations and find facts
  • Ability to analyze and assess data or information
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to organize assignments and manage time efficiently
  • Critical, logical, lateral, and creative thinking
