Data Associates are professionals who collect, manage, process, and ensure the quality of data within an organization. They often work with databases, spreadsheets, and software tools to organize and validate data, making it accessible and accurate for analysis and reporting. Data Associates may also assist with data entry, cleaning, and basic analysis tasks, supporting teams like data analysts or data scientists. Their work is crucial for maintaining reliable information that drives business decisions.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a data associate?

To thrive as a Data Associate, you need strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and a solid foundation in data management or statistics, often supported by a bachelor's degree in a related field. Job description

Data Engineer

Remote

At IPT Associates (IPTA), we enjoy solving real-world problems with technology. We work closely with our customers, teammates, experts, and partners to come up with practical solutions that make a difference. Whether it's a government or business organization, we focus on understanding the need and building something that works.

Our Team

At IPTA, everything starts with our people. We're big believers that when you invest in your team, great things happen. That's why we encourage learning, growth, and trying new things-even if you don't have all the answers yet.

Our culture is rooted in fierce determination, fearless integrity, and passionate service-but we also like to keep things collaborative, supportive, and down-to-earth.

We're looking for people who:

  • Are curious and excited about technology
  • Like solving problems and figuring things out
  • Can take initiative but also enjoy working with a team
  • Want to keep learning, growing, and challenging themselves

If you're someone who's eager to jump in, learn something new, and make an impact-you'll fit right in here.

Responsibilities:

  • Support development and maintenance of data pipelines, datasets, and curated data products within the Army Vantage analytics ecosystem
  • Assist with preparing ingested data in Vantage for manipulation, including standardization, transformation, enrichment, validation, and basic quality checks
  • Help structure data so it can support visualization, analysis, reporting, and AI-assisted workflows within Army Vantage
  • Apply foundational data modeling and data ontology concepts to help organize mission data in ways that improve discoverability, usability, and accessibility
  • Support connections between disparate Army databases, FCC tools, A365-based data sources, and higher command data sources
  • Use A365 and Microsoft tools such as Dataverse, Power Platform, Power Automate, Power Apps, SharePoint, and Power BI to support data collection, workflow automation, reporting, and transition of data into Vantage-ready structures
  • Develop and maintain SQL queries and scripts to support dashboards, metrics, data validation, and ad hoc analysis
  • Document data flows, data definitions, transformation logic, and engineering processes to improve maintainability and reuse
  • Work closely with senior engineers, government analysts, and data scientists to implement mission requirements while following security, governance, and access control policies

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Science, Engineering, or related field
  • 1-3 years of experience in data engineering, data analysis, business intelligence, or related technical roles
  • Must have experience with Azure Data Factory
  • Strong Python programming skills
  • Foundational knowledge of SQL, data manipulation, data modeling, and data quality concepts
  • Familiarity with Microsoft-based data environments, preferably Microsoft 365, Dataverse, Power Platform, Power BI, SharePoint, or related tools
  • Preferred experience with Palantir Foundry (Army Vantage); candidates without direct Vantage experience must be able to quickly learn Army Vantage tools, data workflows, and data product development practices
  • Ability to work in secure government environments and follow defined engineering, governance, and documentation processes
  • Ability to obtain and maintain an Active Secret clearance

Desired Experience:

  • Direct exposure to Army Vantage or other DoD enterprise analytics platforms
  • Hands-on experience with Army 365 (A365), Dataverse, Power Platform, Power Automate, Power Apps, SharePoint, and/or Power BI
  • Experience supporting dashboards, reports, analytics solutions, data pipelines, or data quality activities
  • Familiarity with basic data governance, metadata, data cataloging, data ontology, or data quality practices
  • Strong communication skills, attention to detail, and willingness to learn new Army data platforms and mission workflows

IPTA is an Equal Opportunity Employer. All employment decisions are based on individual merit, including qualifications, experience, performance, and business needs, consistent with applicable federal laws and federal contracting requirements. IPTA provides equal opportunity and utilizes merit-based principles to make employment-related decisions.
