Job Description Summary
              Â
Tests and inspects products at various stages of production process and compiles and evaluates statistical data to determine and maintain quality and reliability of products by grading product using procedures and specifications. Records and informs the appropriate personnel of the product quality being processed as required.
Job Description
  • Include the following (other duties may be assigned):Â
  • Maintains safe work practices at all times and participates in safety programs.Â
  • This position requires the ability to perform a set of functions established for each of several work stations on a routine basis. Â
  • Responsibilities include collecting data and recording accurately on Q.A. forms (data input into computer) and reporting any irregularities of product exceeding established limits to the appropriate personnel in accordance with instructions of the Team Leader Quality. Â
  • Uses approved procedures to sample and evaluate product for the following attributes: Â length; defects; color; texture; solids; packaging waste; case weights; case integrity; product temperatures; additive levels; uses approved procedures for upstream color and additive control; and performs weekend cleanup as required. Â
  • Selects products for tests at specified stages in production process, and tests products for variety of qualities such as dimensions, performance, mechanical, electrical, or chemical characteristics.Â
  • Records test data, applying statistical quality control procedures. Â
  • Evaluates data to validate or indicate deviations from existing standards. Â
  • Recommends modifications of existing quality or production standards to achieve optimum quality within limits of equipment capability. Â
  • Prepares graphs or charts of data or enters data into computer for analysis. Â

Basic & Preferred Qualifications
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:Â
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Â

LANGUAGE SKILLS:Â
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos in English. Â
  • Ability to write accurate information on simple forms in English. Â
  • Ability to effectively present or listen to information in oneâ€'onâ€'one and small group situations with all other employees of the organization in English.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:Â
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.Â

REASONING ABILITY:Â
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Â
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.Â

OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES:Â
  • Must be able to operate all equipment and tools used in the lab. Â
  • Must have knowledge of and follow plant safety, personal hygiene, and GMP rules.Â
  • Must be able to complete forms in an accurate and legible manner. Â
  • Must have the ability to stand for extended periods of time. Â
  • Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds in a safe manner.Â
  • Must be able to work with or around lab chemicals and industrial cleaning chemicals used in the plant. Â
  • Must be able to demonstrate proper use of a telephone.Â

WORK ENVIRONMENT:Â
  • While collecting samples you must be able to walk on wet, slippery floors, ascend/descend stairs, and have a high tolerance for noise, vibration, and extreme hot and cold temperatures. Â

QUALIFICATION PERIOD:Â
  • Not to exceed 35 shifts worked.Â
