Position Summary
Mississippi Valley State University seeks a Research Analytics Field Instructor to support institutional analytics, digital learning technologies, and technology-enhanced instructional environments. The position assists with the administration and analysis of learning management systems and institutional data systems while supporting online learning initiatives and instructional technology integration. The Research Analytics Field Instructor contributes to institutional reporting activities including IPEDS, accreditation reporting, and state data submissions, and conducts data analysis using tools such as Python, R, SQL, and related analytics technologies. The role also supports research and innovation initiatives involving data science, machine learning, artificial intelligence, and computational analysis. The position collaborates with faculty, researchers, and technical staff to enhance digital learning environments and support data-informed decision making across the university.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Support administration and analysis of the University's Learning Management System (LMS) and related instructional technologies used in online and hybrid courses.
  • Conduct learning analytics and data analysis to evaluate student engagement, participation, and course effectiveness.
  • Develop reports, dashboards, and data visualizations to support digital learning initiatives, student success efforts, and institutional decision-making.
  • Utilize Banner and ARGOS reporting systems to extract, analyze, and validate institutional data for operational and strategic reporting.
  • Write and maintain scripts and queries for reporting and data extraction using tools such as SQL, Python, R, or similar analytics technologies.
  • Assist faculty with integrating multimedia, interactive tools, and digital resources into online and blended course design.
  • Develop and maintain online training modules, tutorials, and instructional support materials for faculty and students.
  • Maintain documentation, technical guides, and electronic knowledge base resources related to instructional technology platforms and reporting systems.
  • Collaborate with Information Technology staff to support LMS updates, Banner integrations, data workflows, and instructional technology improvements.
  • Support institutional reporting requirements including IPEDS, accreditation reporting, and state data submissions, and assist with data validation and compliance processes.
Required Qualifications

  • Master's degree from an accredited institution in Bioinformatics, Computer Science, Data Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Educational Technology, or a related field.
  • Experience with data analysis, programming, or computational research methods.
  • Experience working with enterprise data systems such as Banner, ARGOS, or similar reporting environments.
  • Proficiency with programming or analytical tools such as Python, R, SQL, MATLAB, or related technologies.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to communicate technical information effectively to faculty, staff, and students.
