Position Title: 1.0 FTE Probationary Humanities Instructional Coach
Salary/Pay Scale: Competitive
Requirements:
New York State certification in elementary and/or middle school education required, with a deep understanding of literacy development and the Science of Reading. Strong content?expertise?in English Language Arts and/or Social Studies instruction. Experience with facilitating professional learning and skilled in building collaborative relationships with teachers and school leaders is preferred.?A minimum of three years of successful teaching experience is preferred.

JOB SUMMARY:
The Humanities Instructional Coach serves as a Universal (Tier 1) Instructional Coach with a focus on English Language Arts and Social Studies. This role supports the implementation of high-quality, standards-aligned core instruction to ensure equitable access and success for all students. Working within the district's MTSS framework, the coach prioritizes strengthening Universal (Tier 1) instruction as the primary lever for improving student outcomes. Through the application of adult learning theory, the Humanities Instructional Coach builds educator capacity, supports reflective instructional practices, and promotes sustainable improvement across classrooms and the school.
KEY RESPONIBILITIES:
  • Provide job-embedded instructional coaching through modeling, co-teaching, classroom observation, and reflective feedback cycles

  • Support teachers in implementing high-quality, standards-aligned instruction in English Language Arts and Social Studies

  • Facilitate collaborative planning aligned to district curriculum, priority standards, and pacing guides

  • Promote the use of research-based instructional practices, including evidence-based literacy instruction aligned to the Science of Reading

  • Guide teachers in the use of formative and summative assessment data to inform instructional decisions and strengthen Tier 1 instruction

  • Support the design and implementation of rigorous learning experiences that build knowledge, comprehension, and academic vocabulary

  • Co-plan and co-teach lessons using an embedded instructional support model based on teacher collaboration and student data

  • Assist teachers in differentiating instruction to meet diverse student needs within the core instructional setting

  • Lead and facilitate professional learning experiences aligned to district instructional priorities

  • Collaborate with principals, instructional leaders, coaches, and specialists to ensure coherence across grade levels and content areas

  • Participate in and support Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) focused on essential standards, common assessments, unit planning, and data analysis

  • Contribute to district and building instructional leadership efforts that strengthen MTSS systems and Universal (Tier 1) practices

  • Support the development, implementation, and monitoring of coherent PK-12 curriculum and instructional systems

  • Build educator capacity through facilitation, reflective questioning, and feedback grounded in adult learning theory

  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement and consistent instructional expectations across classrooms and schools

  • Provide direct, in-class instructional support through an embedded co-teaching model or small group student support based on teacher collaboration and formative assessment data?
