We are currently seeking a highly organized and proactive Equipment Buyer to join our Supply Chain team on a temporary basis. This role offers the opportunity to work closely with Caterpillar, suppliers, and internal stakeholders while managing the procurement and availability of equipment, power systems, and attachments across our business.

Equipment Procurement & Purchase Order Management

  • Manage end-to-end procurement activities, including ordering and expediting equipment from Caterpillar and non-Caterpillar suppliers.

  • Create and manage purchase orders to support demand and inventory requirements.

  • Maintain accurate procurement records, tracking systems, and item master data.

  • Support equipment, power systems, and attachment availability while optimizing inventory performance.

Product Configuration Management

  • Build and maintain standard equipment configurations, pricing structures, and compatibility requirements.

  • Partner with Industry Representatives to ensure configurations align with product updates and customer needs.

  • Collaborate with IT and quoting tool teams to maintain accurate system data and configurations.

Supply Chain Collaboration & Customer Support

  • Work closely with branches, suppliers, inventory planners, transportation teams, and fulfillment groups to resolve issues and improve equipment availability.

  • Investigate inventory and process challenges and recommend improvements to enhance supply chain performance.

  • Support internal stakeholders by providing guidance on procurement processes and equipment ordering procedures.

  • Proactively identify risks and coordinate solutions across multiple departments.

Operational Excellence

  • Maintain procurement procedures and supporting documentation.

  • Provide support to other buyers and supply chain teams during peak periods and absences.

  • Promote continuous improvement initiatives that enhance efficiency, service levels, and customer satisfaction.

  • Uphold Finning's commitment to safety, compliance, and operational excellence.

What You'll Bring:

Education & Experience

  • Post-secondary education in Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, Business, Industrial Engineering, or a related discipline.

  • 3 to 7 years of experience in procurement, purchasing, inventory management, supply chain operations, or a related field.

  • Experience within heavy equipment, automotive, mining, utilities, manufacturing, distribution, retail, or a similar industry is considered an asset.

  • Knowledge of transportation, logistics, warehousing, sourcing, contracts management, or master data management is advantageous.

  • Experience with Lawson or other MRP/ERP systems is preferred.

  • Strong understanding of procurement, purchasing, and expediting processes.
