Job Summary/Basic Function
The Data Analyst is responsible for supporting Institutional Effectiveness at Bay College. This position will manage a variety of research projects, dashboards, reporting and grant initiatives, contributing to the institution's overall mission and strategic goals. This role is pivotal in providing data-driven insights that enhance the quality of the college's programs and operations from the course level to accreditation. This position will gather and analyze relevant data that will guide decisions at the institution. This position will make a meaningful impact on the institution's success and growth. This position is not remote. This position will be on our Escanaba campus.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in data analysis, computer science, statistics, information technology, business administration, information systems/management, or science with an emphasis in research and analysis or a bachelor's degree in another area but holds relevant work experience in data analytics
  • Strong analytical, data interpretation, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Positive rapport amongst peers
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Demonstrated commitment to valuing diversity and contributing to an inclusive working and learning environment

Preferred Qualifications
  • Demonstrated experience working in an enterprise resource planning (ERP system) or database
  • 3+ years of experience in institutional research or data analysis
  • Prior work experience with processing detailed information

  • Collect, analyze, and interpret institutional data to support decision-making and strategic planning.
  • Design and conduct research studies to assess the effectiveness of programs and initiatives.
  • Facilitate the development and use of interactive data dashboards and customizable reports that empower employees to analyze to improve student support, learning and outcomes that foster a culture of inquiry, improvement, and data-informed decision-making.
  • Conduct needs assessment by working collaboratively with departments and divisions to design and implement meaningful and effective supports.
  • Participate in training on use of data dashboards and reporting tools.
  • Prepare and present reports and presentations in a variety of formats (verbal, written, numerical, graphical, etc.) on research findings to senior leadership and stakeholders.
  • Stay current on trends and best practices in institutional research to ensure compliance with regulations and requirements.
  • Provide custom, primary quantitative and qualitative survey/market research including consultation, research design and methodology, questionnaire development, data collection, tabulation, statistical analysis, and report writing and presentation for management data-driven decision-making.
  • Interpret and respond effectively to stakeholder and end-user requests and needs.
  • Serve and lead college committees as needed - required participation on Data Governance Committee with the expectation of chair responsibilities when appropriate.
