Job description

Journeyman Scrum Master

This Department of War enterprise data and analytics program delivers mission-critical capabilities that enable leaders across the Department to make faster, better-informed decisions using trusted data at scale. Leidos Digital Modernization sector is seeking an experienced Journeyman Scrum Master to support the delivery, enhancement, and adoption of enterprise data and analytics products used across multiple DoD organizations.

In this role, you will work alongside government partners, engineers, and other industry teammates to translate operational and strategic requirements into scalable, production-ready solutions. You will contribute directly to product planning, execution, and continuous improvement—helping ensure capabilities are delivered efficiently, aligned to mission priorities, and positioned for sustained success.

This position offers the opportunity to work on a high-visibility, enterprise program at the intersection of data, analytics, and emerging AI technologies. Ideal candidates are motivated by mission impact, comfortable operating in complex stakeholder environments, and interested in building deep domain expertise while delivering capabilities with real-world national security outcomes.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Serve as the Scrum Master for an Agile product team, supporting sprint execution and delivery activities.
  • Facilitate Agile ceremonies including Daily Stand-ups, Sprint Planning, Sprint Reviews, and Retrospectives.
  • Support backlog refinement and assist in ensuring user stories are clearly defined and prioritized.
  • Track team progress using Agile metrics including burndown charts and sprint tracking tools.
  • Identify and help remove team-level impediments, escalating issues as needed.
  • Coordinate with Product Owners to support alignment of team activities with priorities and requirements.
  • Support collaboration with other Scrum Masters and teams to manage dependencies.
  • Promote adherence to Agile and SAFe principles and team best practices.
  • Support integration of team activities into DevSecOps pipelines and system lifecycle processes.
  • Assist in monitoring team performance and identifying opportunities for improvement.
  • Facilitate communication between team members and stakeholders.
  • Provide status updates on sprint progress, risks, and issues.
  • Participate in Program Increment (PI) Planning and other SAFe program-level activities.

Basic Qualifications

  • Active TS/SCI clearance.
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Information Technology, Engineering, or related discipline and 4 years of relevant experience OR Master's degree in a related field and 2 years of relevant experience.
  • Experience supporting Agile teams in a Scrum Master or similar role.
  • Experience facilitating Agile ceremonies and supporting sprint execution.
  • Experience using Agile tools (e.g., Jira, Confluence, or similar).
  • Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience working in Agile or SAFe environments.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certified Scrum Master (CSM), SAFe Scrum Master (SSM), or equivalent Agile certification.
  • Experience supporting DevSecOps, cloud, or data platform environments.
  • Experience working in multi-team Agile programs.
  • Experience supporting DoD or Federal programs.
  • Familiarity with Agile metrics and reporting tools.
