Purpose:

The Technical Data Analyst is responsible for analyzing and interpreting complex data to inform business decisions, as well as documenting business requirements to ensure effective communication between stakeholders. This role will work closely with various teams to identify, analyze, and resolve data-related issues, and may assist the business with the creation of certain data assets through discovery sessions or build data assets to support data discovery and business decision-making. Additionally, they will be responsible to gather, analyze, evaluate, and document the business, functional, technical, security, performance, training, and data mapping requirements as needed.

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Analyze and interpret large datasets to identify trends, patterns, and insights that inform business decisions.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to understand business needs and identify opportunities for data-driven solutions.
  • Create and/or provide governance of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) documentation needed by various teams (business users, testers, trainers, and applications development teams) to successfully develop and maintain infrastructure and business systems applications.
  • Assist in the creation of data assets through discovery sessions, working with business stakeholders to define requirements and identify key performance indicators.
  • Build data assets, such as data visualizations and reports, to support data discovery and business decision-making.
  • Develop and maintain documentation of business requirements, data assets, and data processes.
  • Work with data engineering and development teams to ensure that data assets are properly implemented and maintained.
  • Provide guidance and support to stakeholders on data analysis and interpretation, and help to identify and prioritize business needs.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends and emerging technologies in data analysis and business intelligence.
  • Identify and communicate data quality issues and opportunities for process improvements.
  • Facilitate collaboration and communication between stakeholders, data engineers, and developers to ensure that data needs are met.

Required Technical Skills:

  • Proficiency in data analysis and visualization tools such as Power BI, and Power Platform.
  • Strong programming skills in languages such as SQL, Python, or R.
  • Experience with data modeling and data warehousing concepts.
  • Familiarity with cloud-based data platforms such as Databricks, Amazon We Services (AWS), or Microsoft Azure.
  • Strong understanding of data quality and data governance principles.
  • Experience with agile development methodologies and version control systems such as Git.
  • Strong technical writing and documentation skills, with the ability to communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

Education, Certifications & Designations:

  • Graduate degree in Business Analytics, Data Science, Information Systems, Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science or related field  - or - A combination of education and experience that demonstrates equivalent skills and knowledge.
