Operations Analyst Mid-Level | $55,000-$83,000 | Colorado Springs, CO (Schriever AFB) | Active TS/SCI Clearance Support real-time missile defense operations by providing 24/7 operational monitoring, system administration, troubleshooting, and sustainment support for mission-critical BMDS OPIR systems. Join a team directly supporting national security missions where system availability, operational readiness, and rapid issue resolution impact decision makers across the Missile Defense System. A Day in the Life - What youll do * Monitor mission-critical software applications, infrastructure components, and operational systems supporting the BMDS OPIR Architecture in a 24/7/365 operational environment.

* Perform continuous system health monitoring and proactively identify performance anomalies, degradation trends, and operational risks before they impact mission execution. * Administer Linux-based operational environments through command-line interfaces, ensuring systems remain secure, stable, and compliant with operational requirements. * Apply approved operating system, server, and vendor software patches while maintaining system availability and mission readiness.

* Analyze software logs, system logs, audit records, and performance data to identify root causes of operational issues and recommend corrective actions. * Conduct system-level troubleshooting across software, operating systems, applications, and infrastructure components to restore operational capabilities. * Manage user accounts, permissions, auditing activities, and security-related administrative functions in accordance with established operational procedures.

* Configure software applications, system components, and infrastructure resources based on approved operational instructions and mission requirements. * Perform initial analysis of software events, alarms, and system incidents, escalating issues to engineering teams when necessary. * Collect operational data, system artifacts, logs, and diagnostic information to create technical data packages supporting deeper engineering analysis.

* Collaborate with software engineers, system administrators, cybersecurity personnel, and mission operators to resolve technical issues and improve operational effectiveness. * Support operational shift turnover activities, documenting system status, ongoing issues, and mission impacts to ensure continuity across shifts. * Participate in technical investigations, operational readiness activities, and continuous improvement initiatives that enhance system performance and mission support.

Required Qualifications * Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or a related STEM discipline from an accredited institution and 2 years of relevant experience; OR a Masters degree in a related field and 0 years of experience; OR 6 years of relevant experience in lieu of a degree. * Current DoD 8140 certification meeting IAT Level II requirements or higher (Security+, GSEC, SCNP, SSCP, CISSP, CISA, GSE, SCNA, or equivalent). * Experience administering Linux-based systems through command-line interfaces.

* Knowledge of system administration principles, operating system maintenance, and enterprise computing environments. * Familiarity with software and system troubleshooting methodologies. * Experience analyzing logs, system events, and operational data to identify and resolve technical issues.

* Ability to work effectively within highly collaborative technical teams supporting mission-critical operations. * Familiarity with customer-facing operational support environments. * Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.

* Ability and willingness to travel up to 10% in support of operational and business requirements. * Active, in-scope DoD Top Secret security clearance with SCI eligibility required at time of application. * Possess a Counterintelligence (CI) Polygraph or willingness to successfully complete a CI Polygraph examination.

* Ability to support rotating 24/7 operational shift schedules in a mission-critical environment. Preferred Qualifications * Expertise administering Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 9 environments. * Experience with automation and configuration management tools such as Ansible and Chef.

* Proficiency with scripting languages including Python and Bash. * Linux certifications such as RHCSA, Linux+, RHCE, or equivalent. * Experience supporting 24/7 operations centers, command centers, network operations centers, or mission operations environments.

* Familiarity with RSA, NetApp, HPE, and related enterprise infrastructure platforms. * Experience supporting customer-facing operational missions or government stakeholders. * Knowledge of cybersecurity best practices, auditing procedures, and system hardening methodologies.

* Experience performing operational data analysis and developing technical reports from collected system data. * Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office applications including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Visio. * Experience supporting Missile Defense Agency (MDA), Space Force, Air Force, or other Department of Defense operational environments.
