Job description

About the Role:

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented intern to support our aerial data acquisition and analysis operations. This position requires a current FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot Certificate, the ability to drive, travel to job sites, and perform physically demanding tasks in the field. You’ll gain valuable experience operating drones in real-world environments and assisting in data processing workflows, analysis, and reporting.

Responsibilities:
  • Operate drones in compliance with FAA Part 107 regulations

  • Assist with flight planning, including site research and risk assessment

  • Conduct field missions for data collection with our custom Decker platform

  • Perform drone equipment maintenance and troubleshooting

  • Transfer and organize large datasets collected in the field

  • Assist with post-processing and analysis of aerial data using tools such as Decker and DJI Software Suite.

  • Maintain detailed flight logs and QA/QC documentation

  • Lift and transport equipment (up to 50 pounds) as needed

  • Travel to and from project sites, sometimes involving overnight stays

  • Work collaboratively with team members to ensure safe, efficient field operations

Required Qualifications:
  • Current FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot Certificate

  • Valid driver’s license and ability to drive to field locations

  • Willingness to travel for fieldwork (travel may include overnights)

  • Strong attention to detail and data accuracy

  • Physically capable of lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds

  • Comfortable working outdoors in various weather conditions

  • Basic knowledge of data processing and drone workflows

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Geospatial Science, Environmental Science, Engineering, Aviation, or a related field

  • Experience with drone platforms (DJI, Freefly, etc.) and mapping software (e.g., Pix4D, Global Mapper)

  • CPR/First Aid certification
