Job description

Physical Damage Claims Adjuster

Job Summary: The Physical Damage Claims Adjuster is responsible for the investigation, evaluation, negotiation, and settlement of auto, truck, and other material
and physical damage claims, including but not limited to theft, fire, and vandalism.

Major Accountabilities:
1. Document information, investigate, verify coverage, and make decisions consistent with local laws and claims practices.
2. Investigate the facts of loss to include obtaining all necessary affidavits, statements, reports, and documentation to validate the loss and adjust the claim.
3. Appraise, evaluate, and handle automobile, heavy truck, trailer, and equipment damages claims, including total losses, to conclusion within authority.
4. Communicate and negotiate with interested parties as appropriate.
5. Establish and maintain financials including reserves, payments, and resolution of claims without payments.
6. Monitor, with management consent, approved external vendors.
7. Mentor teammates within Auto Property Damage claims by offering input on more complex files as requested and aiding in the development of less tenured staff.
8. Perform other duties as assigned by Management.

Qualifications:

Education/Training Requirements: Bachelorโ€™s degree or commensurate
experience required. Adjusterโ€™s license required.

Experience/Specialized Skills: Minimum of four years auto property heavy equipment damage adjusting or repair experience required. Familiarity with basic insurance and tort law as well as understanding of basic legal principles and terminology as it relates to insurance operations preferred. Intermediate computer skills (word processing, spreadsheet, database, e-mail) required.

Special Considerations:

Physical Requirements: Constant use of vision, hearing, and communication (oral and written in person and via telephone). Frequent concentration, standing,
walking, handling, reaching, and grasping. Occasional bending, kneeling and lifting (up to 25 lbs.). Heavy use of computer and office equipment.

Additional Requirements: Occasional travel may be required. Periodic work outside of standard business hours or on weekends may be required.
