Position Purpose

The Dairy Supervisor is responsible for supporting the daily operations of the Dairy Department by ensuring product availability, inventory accuracy, merchandising excellence, and exceptional customer service. This position provides leadership to dairy associates, supports department productivity, and helps achieve sales, shrink, and operational goals while maintaining food safety and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities Department Operations
  • Supervise daily dairy department activities, including stocking, product rotation, merchandising, and inventory management.
  • Ensure dairy cases remain stocked, organized, and visually appealing throughout operating hours.
  • Monitor product freshness, quality, and expiration dates to ensure food safety compliance.
  • Ensure proper product rotation utilizing First-In, First-Out (FIFO) inventory practices.
  • Maintain clean, organized coolers, backrooms, and sales floor displays.
  • Assist with receiving, unloading, and processing deliveries.
Inventory Management
  • Monitor inventory levels and assist with ordering to maintain in-stock conditions.
  • Identify and communicate out-of-stock conditions and inventory discrepancies.
  • Support inventory counts, cycle counts, and department audits.
  • Minimize shrink through proper handling, storage, rotation, and inventory controls.
  • Ensure damaged, expired, and unsaleable merchandise is processed according to company procedures.
Customer Service
  • Provide exceptional customer service and assistance to customers.
  • Respond to product inquiries, special requests, and customer concerns promptly and professionally.
  • Promote a customer-focused department culture.
  • Ensure department conditions support a positive shopping experience.
Leadership & Team Development
  • Provide direction, coaching, and support to dairy associates.
  • Assist with training new employees on stocking procedures, food safety practices, and department standards.
  • Monitor productivity and work quality throughout the department.
  • Promote teamwork, accountability, and operational excellence.
  • Assume leadership responsibilities in the absence of the Dairy Manager.
Safety & Compliance
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, food safety requirements, and regulatory standards.
  • Maintain proper temperature controls and refrigeration standards.
  • Promote safe work practices and proper equipment operation.
  • Keep aisles, coolers, and work areas safe and free of hazards.
  • Support loss prevention and asset protection initiatives.
Financial Performance
  • Assist in achieving departmental sales, labor, and shrink goals.
  • Monitor department conditions to maximize sales opportunities.
  • Support labor productivity and operational efficiency initiatives.
  • Assist with identifying opportunities to improve department profitability.
