Kreider Farms | Manheim, PA

Are you a hands-on mechanic who enjoys troubleshooting equipment, solving problems, and keeping operations running smoothly? Kreider Farms is seeking a dependable Dairy Maintenance Mechanic to join our dairy operations team. This role is critical to maintaining the equipment and systems that support one of Pennsylvania's premier dairy operations.

What You'll Do

As a Dairy Mechanic, you will be responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing dairy and farm equipment to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable operations.

Responsibilities
  • Perform routine and preventative maintenance on dairy and farm equipment, including:
    • Milking parlor systems
    • Feed handling equipment
    • Manure handling systems
    • Ventilation and cooling equipment
    • Conveyors and pumps
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical, hydraulic, and basic electrical issues.
  • Conduct equipment inspections and identify potential problems before breakdowns occur.
  • Service equipment through greasing, lubrication, fluid changes, belt replacements, and cooling system maintenance.
  • Perform welding, fabrication, and minor metalwork repairs.
  • Maintain and repair water supply, hydraulic, mechanical, and pneumatic systems within dairy facilities.
  • Repair fans, sprinklers, stalls, curtains, fences, and other barn infrastructure.
  • Operate farm equipment such as skid steers, loaders, and other machinery as needed.
  • Maintain maintenance records, inventory of tools, and spare parts.
  • Report equipment issues, safety concerns, and food safety risks promptly.
  • Follow all safety, animal welfare, GMP, and food safety standards.
  • Assist with other maintenance-related duties as assigned.
QualificationsRequired
  • Technical training or equivalent hands-on experience.
  • 1โ€“3 years of maintenance experience.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
  • Basic electrical knowledge, including motors, relays, contactors, and control systems.
  • Understanding of preventative maintenance practices.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Willingness to work weekends and participate in on-call rotations as needed.
Preferred (not required)
  • Ranch/Dairy (or related environments) maintenance experience
  • Bilingual - English/Spanish
Physical Requirements
  • Frequently lift and carry 50+ pounds.
  • Perform physical tasks including climbing, reaching, bending, pushing, pulling, and operating tools and machinery.
  • Work in varying temperatures and environmental conditions.
  • Comfortable working around noise, dust, moisture, odors, and livestock environments.
