Journeyman Electrician | Commercial & Industrial
Pay: $22.00-$25.00 per hour, based on experience
Location: Raleigh, NC 27603 | Projects throughout the Raleigh-Durham area
Position Overview
We are seeking a skilled Journeyman Electrician to support commercial and industrial electrical projects throughout the Raleigh-Durham area.
This role is ideal for an electrician who can complete installations, read electrical drawings, troubleshoot field issues, and take ownership of assigned work with limited supervision. The position may also provide day-to-day direction to a small team of helpers or apprentices.
Successful candidates should be dependable, safety-conscious, productive, and committed to quality workmanship.
Key Responsibilities
  • Install, maintain, modify, and repair commercial and industrial electrical systems
  • Install panels, disconnects, transformers, junction boxes, lighting systems, receptacles, switches, branch circuits, feeders, and related electrical equipment
  • Measure, cut, bend, thread, ream, assemble, and install EMT, rigid conduit, PVC, raceways, and other approved wiring systems
  • Install MC cable and related electrical wiring systems
  • Pull, route, identify, splice, and terminate conductors and cables
  • Perform grounding and bonding according to applicable electrical requirements
  • Read and follow blueprints, schematics, panel schedules, layouts, and project specifications
  • Assist with electrical layout and conduit or wiring routing
  • Test and troubleshoot circuits, wiring, devices, and electrical equipment
  • Complete necessary repairs, adjustments, and corrections
  • Coordinate electrical work with foremen and other skilled trades
  • Identify required tools, equipment, and materials for assigned tasks
  • Maintain tools, materials, and work areas in a safe and organized condition
  • Follow NEC requirements, OSHA guidelines, site-specific safety procedures, and required PPE standards
Leadership Responsibilities
This position may provide direction to 1-3 electrical helpers or apprentices, including:
  • Assigning and explaining daily tasks
  • Demonstrating proper installation methods
  • Monitoring work for quality, safety, and productivity
  • Assisting less-experienced team members as needed
  • Communicating job progress, material needs, and field concerns to the foreman

This is not a foreman-level position, but candidates should be comfortable managing smaller assignments and helping maintain crew productivity.
Required Qualifications
  • Minimum 3 years of hands-on electrical experience
  • Commercial and/or industrial electrical construction experience preferred
  • Strong understanding of electrical installation methods and basic electrical theory
  • Experience with conduit bending, wire pulling, splicing, and terminations
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical blueprints, schematics, and layouts
  • Working knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC)
  • Ability to troubleshoot common electrical issues
  • Ability to safely use hand tools, power tools, and electrical testing equipment
  • Ability to complete assigned work with limited supervision
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
  • Reliable transportation to assigned jobsites
  • Appropriate personal hand tools for the electrical trade
Preferred Qualifications
  • OSHA 10 certification
  • OSHA 30 certification
  • Experience with large commercial or industrial construction projects
  • Experience with switchgear, electrical distribution, and lighting systems
  • Previous experience directing helpers or apprentices
  • Experience operating personnel lifts or construction equipment when properly trained and authorized
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
Candidates must be able to perform the essential duties of electrical construction work, with or without reasonable accommodation.

  • Standing and walking for extended periods
  • Bending, kneeling, crouching, reaching, and working overhead
  • Climbing ladders and working from approved elevated platforms
