Job description

Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled and dependable Sleeve Machine Operator to join our packaging and production team. The Sleeve Machine Operator is responsible for setting up, operating, monitoring, and troubleshooting automated shrink-sleeve labeling equipment.


The ideal candidate has strong mechanical aptitude, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to maintain consistent production quality while operating high-speed packaging equipment.


Key Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate automated shrink-sleeve labeling and packaging equipment.
  • Load rolls of plastic sleeve film, thread film through the machine, and prepare equipment for production runs.
  • Perform machine setups and changeovers according to product specifications.
  • Adjust machine settings, knives, mandrels, guides, sensors, and other components as needed for different container sizes and shapes.
  • Monitor shrink tunnels and adjust heat, steam, conveyor speed, and other operating parameters as required.
  • Inspect finished containers for proper label placement, height, alignment, perforation, and overall appearance.
  • Identify and correct film tracking problems, jams, wrinkles, misalignment, and other packaging defects.
  • Perform basic mechanical adjustments and minor troubleshooting to minimize equipment downtime.
  • Communicate equipment issues, quality concerns, and production problems to the appropriate supervisor or maintenance personnel.
  • Maintain accurate production and quality records as required.
  • Perform routine cleaning and housekeeping around the equipment and production area.
  • Follow all machine guarding, lockout/tagout, PPE, food safety, GMP, and plant safety requirements.


Qualifications & Skills

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • 1–2 years of experience operating automated packaging, labeling, bottling, or similar production machinery preferred.
  • Shrink-sleeve labeling experience strongly preferred.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to troubleshoot basic equipment problems.
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to identify packaging defects.
  • Ability to read and follow equipment operating procedures and production specifications.
  • Ability to work independently and respond quickly to production issues.
  • Basic computer skills and ability to complete production documentation preferred.


Physical & Work Requirements

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods during the work shift.
  • Ability to regularly lift and move materials weighing up to 50 pounds, including film rolls.
  • Ability to work safely around heated shrink tunnels, steam, conveyors, and moving machinery.
  • Ability to wear required PPE and comply with all plant safety requirements.
