Job description

Basic X-Ray Machine Operator (BXMO)

The Basic X-Ray Machine Operator (BXMO) follows all required safety protocols, prepares and positions patients for fluoroscopic injections, and administratively assists physician in the diagnosis and treatment of orthopedic diseases or injuries of the spine. This position follows assigned physician to Tampa and Riverview office locations. This position is subject to PTO blackout the last ten (10) business days of December each year.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities:
  • Prepares patient for fluoroscopic spine procedures following meticulous safety guidelines under the guidance of assigned physician
  • Protects patient, self, and other staff from radiation hazards following proper radiology protocols under the guidance of assigned physician
  • Complies with all safety standards, consistently communicates, and pays strict attention to detail under the guidance of assigned physician
  • Monitors radiology supplies and submits purchase requests to maintain proper supply levels
  • Travels to assigned clinic locations to perform radiologic duties under the guidance of a physician
  • Performs other duties as directed by Physician
Required Qualifications And Abilities:
  • Minimum high school diploma or equivalent
  • Florida licensure as a Basic X-Ray Machine Operator (BXMO) required
  • At least one (1) year BXMO experience in an orthopaedic environment, medical practice, clinic, or hospital
  • Basic knowledge of c-arm and related radiology equipment as directed under the guidance of a physician
  • Solid knowledge of radiology protocols including safety hazards common to radiology and sterile technique
  • Advanced knowledge of orthopedic spine anatomy and terminology
  • Excellent written and verbal communicator
  • Thrives at a fast pace and adjusts flexibly to a continually changing environment
  • Able to locally travel between Tampa and Riverview weekly as clinic schedules dictate
  • Ability to effectively understand, follow, and communicate oral and written instructions in English. Must read, write, and speak English fluently to ensure clear work-related communication and patient safety.
  • Experience using AllScripts/veradigm PM/EHR systems preferred
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to safely lift, push, and pull up to 50 pounds at times
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk while working on a computer, standing, and walking
