What is the difference between Data Integration Architect vs Data Engineer?

AspectData Integration ArchitectData Engineer
Primary FocusDesigning and overseeing data integration solutions and architectureBuilding, developing, and maintaining data pipelines and infrastructure
Skills & CertificationsData architecture, ETL tools, cloud platforms, SQL, certifications like CDMPProgramming (Python, Java), SQL, ETL tools, cloud services, certifications like Google Cloud Data Engineer
Work EnvironmentCollaborates with architects, data scientists, and business teams on data strategyWorks closely with data analysts, software engineers, and DevOps teams on data pipeline development

While both roles involve working with data, the Data Integration Architect focuses on designing the overall data integration framework, whereas the Data Engineer implements and maintains the data pipelines. Understanding these distinctions helps organizations assign the right responsibilities and professionals for their data projects.
