Job description

Summary:

Designs, develops, and maintains enterprise data analytics solutions, business intelligence dashboards, and Microsoft Power Platform applications that drive decision-making across manufacturing operations, engineering, finance, and executive leadership. Partners with cross-functional stakeholders to transform complex data into trusted, scalable, and user-friendly products by performing the following duties.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and maintain enterprise dashboards, KPI scorecards, and decision-support reporting in Power BI using SQL, DAX, and Power Query to enable executive and operational decision-making.
  • Build, deploy, and maintain custom business applications using Microsoft Power Apps (canvas and/or model-driven) and automate workflows using Power Automate to streamline manufacturing and back-office processes. 
  • Develop and maintain semantic data models, dimensional structures, and reusable reporting layers that serve as the trusted source of truth across the organization.
  • Partner with Engineering, Operations, Finance, and Product stakeholders to gather requirements, define KPIs, and deliver multi-workstream analytics solutions end to end. 
  • Write, optimize, and maintain complex SQL queries, stored procedures, and data extracts against enterprise data warehouses and cloud platforms (e.g., Snowflake, Azure SQL, Redshift, MySQL).
  • Use Python or similar scripting languages for data analysis, automation, integration, and quality validation tasks.
  • Champion self-service analytics by consolidating recurring ad-hoc requests into governed, scalable dashboards and apps, and by enabling business users through training and documentation.
  • Validate, QA, and document data products to ensure accuracy, reliability, security, and adoption; support data governance and modernization of legacy data assets.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Data Analytics, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field; Master's degree preferred.
  • 3-5 years of progressive experience in data analytics, business intelligence, analytics engineering, or a closely related field.
  • Advanced proficiency in SQL (complex queries, joins, performance tuning, stored procedures) and demonstrated experience with Power BI (DAX, Power Query, semantic modeling, dashboard architecture).
  • Hands-on experience with Python for data analysis, scripting, or automation; experience designing and maintaining dimensional data models and semantic layers.
  • Experience building applications with Microsoft Power Apps and automating workflows with Power Automate is strongly preferred; familiarity with Dataverse, SharePoint, or Microsoft 365 data sources is a plus. Manufacturing, supply chain, or operations industry experience is a plus.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

  • Microsoft certifications such as PL-300 (Power BI Data Analyst), PL-400 (Power Platform Developer), or DP-900/DP-203 are preferred but not required.

Language Skills:

  • Ability to read, write, and communicate fluently in English; strong written and verbal communication skills for translating technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical documentation, data dictionaries, schema diagrams, and business requirements documents.

Mathematical Skills:

  • Strong quantitative and analytical skills; ability to apply concepts of basic statistics, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical business situations and to validate data accuracy across reporting solutions.

This is an on-site position based in Frederick, MD. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to a standard office environment. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate. The employee may occasionally walk through the manufacturing area to support operational stakeholders, where higher noise levels and exposure to moving mechanical equipment may be encountered.
