ASSOCIATE ATTORNEY - CYBERSECURITY, PRIVACY & AI
Cybersecurity, Privacy & Artificial Intelligence Practice Group
Location: Boston, MA\ Los Angeles, CA\San Francisco, CA

Our client, a global AmLaw 50 law firm, with a globally recognized Cybersecurity, Privacy & AI practice, is seeking a highly qualified Associate Attorney to join its collaborative and forward-thinking team. This elite practice is widely regarded as one of the most sophisticated in the market, advising leading companies on their most sensitive, high-stakes, and cutting-edge matters involving data privacy, cybersecurity incidents, and artificial intelligence governance.

The team is known for its pioneering work in the field, including handling landmark privacy litigation, complex regulatory investigations, large-scale data breach responses, and AI-related governance and litigation matters. Attorneys in this group work at the forefront of rapidly evolving legal and regulatory frameworks, partnering closely with clients across industries to address issues of strategic importance throughout the full lifecycle of privacy, cybersecurity, and AI risk.

Candidate Profile
  • JD from a top-tier law school with an excellent academic record.
  • Active Bar Admission in relevant jurisdiction, in good standing.
  • 4-7 years of substantive experience in cybersecurity, privacy, and data protection matters
  • Hands-on experience advising clients on state, federal, and international privacy laws, including strategic counseling and compliance
  • Experience supporting deal diligence in mergers and acquisitions, financings, and commercial transactions
  • Working familiarity with data-driven technologies, including AI/ML, biometrics, and related global regulatory frameworks
  • Familiarity with GDPR / UK GDPR, cross-border data transfers, and international privacy regimes preferred
  • Exposure to laws such as HIPAA, ECPA, COPPA, CAN-SPAM, VPPA, FERPA, CCPA/CPRA, and other state consumer privacy and data breach laws is a plus
  • Experience with data breach response, incident investigations, and defense of regulatory enforcement actions brought by state attorneys general, the FTC, OCR/HHS, SEC cybersecurity regulators, or EU authorities is a plus
  • Large law firm experience required
  • Strong analytical skills, sound judgment, and the ability to manage complex, fast-moving matters in a collaborative team environment

Key Responsibilities
  • Advise clients on privacy, cybersecurity, and AI-related legal and regulatory issues, including governance, compliance, and product development
  • Support M&A, financing, and commercial transactions through privacy and cybersecurity diligence and risk assessment
  • Handle all aspects of data breach response, including investigations, regulatory notifications, and coordination with forensic and crisis-response teams
  • Defend clients in regulatory investigations and enforcement actions and related litigation, including class actions
  • Provide counseling on U.S. and global privacy laws, cybersecurity regulations, and emerging AI legal frameworks
  • Collaborate with colleagues across litigation, corporate, regulatory, and international teams to deliver integrated solutions
