Role Summary

Royal Electric is seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Cyber Security Technician to support and strengthen the organization's cybersecurity posture across enterprise systems, cloud services, operational technologies, and third-party platforms. This role is responsible for coordinating cybersecurity vendors, conducting security assessments and testing, delivering employee security awareness training, and implementing improvements that enhance compliance and security scoring against industry standards and best practices.

The ideal candidate combines technical cybersecurity knowledge with strong communication and project coordination skills and is passionate about continuously improving organizational security maturity.

Key Responsibilities:

Security Operations & Improvements

  • Monitor, maintain, and improve the organization's cybersecurity posture across systems, applications, endpoints, and cloud environments.
  • Implement security configuration changes and best practices to improve cybersecurity scores, compliance ratings, and overall risk reduction.
  • Support implementation and maintenance of cybersecurity tools including endpoint protection, MFA, email security, vulnerability management, and network security solutions.

Vendor & Third-Party Security Management

  • Manage relationships with cybersecurity vendors, consultants, and managed security providers.
  • Review vendor security practices, questionnaires, and compliance documentation.
  • Coordinate implementation and maintenance of security services and platforms.

Security Testing & Assessments

  • Conduct internal security reviews, vulnerability scans, phishing simulations, and security testing activities.
  • Coordinate third-party penetration testing and cybersecurity assessments.
  • Track remediation items and ensure corrective actions are completed in a timely manner.

Security Awareness & Training

  • Develop and conduct cybersecurity awareness training for employees.
  • Promote security best practices throughout the organization.
  • Assist departments with secure technology usage and compliance requirements.

Compliance & Documentation

  • Maintain cybersecurity policies, procedures, standards, and technical documentation.
  • Support organizational compliance initiatives including client security requirements, cyber insurance requirements, and industry frameworks.
  • Assist in improving organizational alignment with standards such as:
    • NIST Cybersecurity Framework
    • CMMC Level 2
    • ISO 27001
    • SOC 2 best practices
  • Generate reports and metrics related to cybersecurity posture, vulnerabilities, and compliance progress.

Requirements

Required

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field preferred.
  • 2+ years of experience in cybersecurity, IT security, systems administration, or related technical roles.
  • Understanding of cybersecurity principles, threat management, and security best practices.
  • Experience working with:
  • Endpoint protection platforms
  • MFA solutions
  • Vulnerability scanning tools
  • Email security systems
  • Microsoft 365 security administration
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and coordinate across departments and vendors.

Preferred Certifications

  • CompTIA Security+
  • Microsoft Security Certifications
  • Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH)
  • CISSP (preferred but not required)
  • Cisco or Fortinet certifications

Core Competencies

  • Knowledge of cloud security concepts and Microsoft 365 security tools.
  • Familiarity with compliance and risk management frameworks.
  • Experience conducting user security training and phishing simulations.
  • Understanding of network security fundamentals and firewall concepts.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical users.

Note: In times of incidents or emergency, this role will require unpredictable travel and work outside of regular business hours.

Salary Range:

  • $70,000/Year - $90,000/Year
    • This is an exempt position
