Who we're looking for

As the Senior Cybersecurity Project Manager, you will serve as a strategic delivery leader, partnering with cross-functional teams to ensure the cybersecurity product and project roadmap is in alignment with the enterprise business strategy. You will play a crucial role in the successful delivery of complex, high-visibility projects spanning multiple functions and stakeholder groups.

You will own the day-to-day project delivery cadence - driving agile ceremonies, managing project budgets, mitigating risks, and providing stakeholder reporting. Additionally, you will contribute to strategic roadmap planning, coordinate with Release Management and Compliance teams, and collaborate with vendors and procurement to ensure contractual deliverables are met on time and within scope.

This role requires a strong agile delivery background, demonstrated leadership in cybersecurity or IT environments, excellent stakeholder management skills, and a deep understanding of the software development lifecycle (SDLC).

What you'll be doing

These are accountabilities you are solely responsible for and will execute daily/weekly:

  • Project Delivery & Agile Execution: Drive the daily project cadence including stand-ups, sprint planning, backlog refinement, sprint reviews, and retrospectives. Ensure the product backlog is continuously groomed, prioritized, and that delivery progress adheres to committed timelines and sprint goals. Manage multiple concurrent projects at various stages of the delivery lifecycle.

  • Risk & Issue Management: Proactively identify, document, assess, and manage project risks and issues using structured frameworks e.g., RAID (Risks, Assumptions, Issues, Dependencies) logs. Implement corrective actions to mitigate risks, escalate appropriately, remove impediments, and maintain delivery performance on track.

  • Budget Management: Manage project budgets across all cost categories (technology, labor, professional services, miscellaneous expenses). Monitor and report on actual spend versus planned spend; forecast variances and recommend corrective actions to maintain financial alignment.

  • Project Monitoring & Status Reporting: Provide tiered reporting (executive, management, team-level) on cybersecurity project delivery performance across key dimensions: Timeline, Budget, Scope, Quality, and Risks & Issues. Maintain dashboards and reporting cadences tailored to stakeholder needs.

These are areas where you actively participate and drive project-level execution, in partnership with other teams or leadership:

  • Strategic Planning & Roadmap Alignment: Contribute to the development and maintenance of the cybersecurity product and project roadmap in alignment with organizational goals. Ensure outcomes from quarterly planning sessions (e.g., Program Increment (PI) Planning, Big Room Planning) are translated into actionable delivery plans and managed according to strategic priorities.

  • Release & Change Management: Coordinate with the Release Management team to guide project deliverables through established release and change management processes. Ensure project artifacts and schedules align with governance controls, quality gates, and enterprise change management requirements. Accountable for project readiness; Release Management owns the execution of the release process.

  • Compliance & Governance: Ensure project-level deliverables comply with relevant cybersecurity regulations and frameworks (e.g., NIST, GDPR, HIPAA, Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI-DSS), or industry-specific standards). Partner with compliance, Governance, Risk, and Compliance (GRC), and risk teams to embed security and regulatory requirements into project execution.

  • Vendor Management: Collaborate with third-party vendors, procurement, and service providers to ensure quality, on-time delivery of contracted work. Contribute to vendor selection activities including Request for Proposal (RFP), Request for Quote (RFQ), and Statement of Work (SOW)development. Manage tracking of SOW deliverables, milestone completion, vendor performance reviews, and on-time invoicing.

These are areas you facilitate on a recurring or as-needed basis to support broader organizational maturity:

  • Process Improvement & Team Development: Identify and implement solutions to address project inefficiencies and drive continuous improvement within delivery teams. Serve as a subject matter resource to peer teams, sharing delivery best practices and proposing remediation strategies for at-risk deliverables. Contribute to the organizational repository of lessons learned. Provide coaching, mentoring, and upskilling opportunities to project team members on delivery methodologies and tools.

  • Technology & Tooling: Effectively leverage agile and project management tools (e.g., Jira, Confluence, Trello, Microsoft Project, Power BI) to plan, track, and communicate project status. Ensure tool hygiene and data integrity across all project artifacts. Coordinate with PMO on tool standardization and best practices.

What you bring:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field (Master's degree preferred) OR equivalent work experience

  • Progressive years of Agile work experience (5-7 years). Product owner/ Scrum master experience working with Agile teams.

  • Experience leading local and/or remote IT project teams through software development lifecycle (5-7 years).

  • Leadership experience, including managing and mentoring a team of cybersecurity professionals.

  • Experience in business planning, resource allocation, budgeting and risk management.

  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and analytical skills.

  • Strong project management and organizational abilities.

Added bonus if you have

  • Knowledge of cybersecurity frameworks, standards, and regulations

  • Industry certifications such as CISSP, CISM, or CISA

  • Experience delivering projects within Cybersecurity function
