JOB TITLE: Cutting Supervisor


DEPARTMENT: Cutting


REPORTS TO: Production Manager


POSITION SUMMARY: Aerial is seeking an experienced Fabric Cutting Supervisor to oversee our Advanced Cutting Center operations and activities. As a key supplier of the Department of Defense's technical sewing supply chain, Aerial considers fabric cutting the critical first step in the manufacturing process. This role requires the ability to manage up to 8 personnel executing multiple weekly shift schedules, and to decipher, optimize, schedule, and execute production requirements for up to 4 knife/laser cutters, as well as various hot knife and automatic web cutting machines, to deliver cut parts on-time, to specification, and in the required quantities.


JOB DUTIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Lead and supervise the cutting team, ensuring productivity and quality standards are met.
  • Learn to operate all cutting machinery with prior cutting experience; schedule and perform preventive maintenance activities to prevent downtime.
  • Consolidate, reconcile, plan, and execute cutting requirements to meet sewing workflow timelines and schedules.
  • Utilize nesting software to optimize material yield and improve efficiency; develop Subject Matter Expert level proficiency within 6 months.
  • Use the full suite of MS Office capabilities to assist in the performance of duties.
  • Develop a working knowledge of the Visual ERP system within one month.
  • Troubleshoot operational issues independently and implement solutions promptly.
  • Plan, schedule, and manage the cutting team's work schedules to meet production goals.
  • Coach, mentor, and manage team members, fostering a positive and productive work environment.
  • Monitor equipment performance and coordinate repairs when needed.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety protocols and company policies.
  • Ensure workspaces are clean, organized, and professional in appearance.


EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE and SKILLS:

  • Strong leadership, planning, organizational, and supervisory skills are required.
  • ERP experience (Visual or other) is required.
  • Solid working knowledge of MS Office and associated software is required.
  • Experience managing a team is required.
  • Experience in fabric cutter nesting programs (Cutworks or other) is highly desired.
  • Fabric cutting experience in both laser and knife cutting machines preferred.
  • Excellent computer skills and understanding.


SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Supervises up to 8 cutting team personnel.


This position does not require personal protective equipment unless on the shop floor where Safety Glasses and appropriate footwear are required by all.
