Your Opportunity: 

The Herff Jones Cap and Gown team, based in Arcola, IL, is looking for a Full Time Machine Operator to join our team.

What You’ll Be Doing On A Daily Basis:

  • Help off-load and label cut parts to appropriate table for manufacturing

  • Hand cuts all product lines with proficiency as needed.

  •  Required to operate the Forklift.

  • Knowledge of basic math.

  • Inspect material and product styles to make certain they correspond to the cutting ticket.

  • Spreads cloth on cutting tables using various manual and automated spreading machines.

  • Responsible for maintaining material and spreading quality standards.

  • Record material and time usage.

  • Must be able to perform general operator asset care

  • Must be able to operate the slicing and rewinding machine efficiently and safely.

  • Responsible for keeping the manufacturing floor stocked with sliced material.

  • Stage appropriate sliced materials.

  • Must be able to maintain the Material Room organization, housekeeping, and cleanliness.

 

What You’ll Bring to the Table:

  • Reading, writing, and math skills commensurate with job duties

  • Must be self-motivated.

  • Proficiency with Oracle, Excel, Word, and email

  • Physical strength and dexterity to perform essential job functions.

  • Job may require lifting to, but not exceeding 90 pounds

  • Ability to recognize colors and different styles of cloth styles

  • Standing for 8 hours a day or longer during our busy season.

  •  Job may require lifting to, but not exceeding 30 pounds

  •  Must be able to work all mandatory overtime

Physical Requirements:

  • Daily activity includes but is not limited to lifting, carrying, sitting, grasping, reaching, standing, kneeling, walking, bending, twisting.
  • Reading, communication, math.
  • Working at a computer for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to regularly lift/move up to 50lbs.
  • Noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to above
